Flowers Help!

Flowers Help!

Hey Girls, I need help. First of all, what is the average $$ for flowers? Secondly, can anyone recommend a good florist -- I know absolutely nothing about flowers and I'm looking for a florist who will be extremely creative, without making me go broke!

I am using simply elegant
their number is on their site
www.flowersanddreams.com
dont ask me why I remember the site and not the phone number :) anyway, i was really happy w/ my trial centerpiece with them and they were a little less than Pedestals and some others and i think better

Thanks! I'm definitely going to check them out...I heard that Pedestals was a good place, too. The last place I went to quoted me $5000, and I just can't see spending that much...

steph - i would suggest eihter flowers by michele or burtons. you wil see tons of posts on both if you do a search. i only cancelled burtons because i got concerned that they wouldn't put in writing the types of flowers and the amount that would be in arrangements. i am a flower FREAK so this meant a tremendous amount to me. BUT - they are reasonable and everybody seems to love them. Michele gets great reviews as well. I went with Fleurs de Florissima. I liked that she was familiar w. my location, and we really hit it off. But $$$$$$$. !!!! Good luck!

Dear Steph, I shopped several florist and felt very confident with Pedestals. I booked them and have been very satisfied with their pricing and work. Good luck

I am using Burtons - rt.110 in Melville- for my flowers. I also recommend Laura's in Commack, although they are more money. I am not sure how creative Burton's is since I am going there knowing what I want, but they get good reviews on the board and do not ads. It is all word of mouth so that is usually a good indication of other's bride's happiness with them. I also found them to be very flexiable.

Debbie- thank you so much for sharing your info. That is what this board is all about.

I am also using Burton's, but as Michele stated, I pretty much knew what I wanted when I went in there. Their prices are excellent!

I would also check out Colonial in Bellmore. They were very helpful and their prices were very good too.

I went with Burton's because they offered a little more for a little less money...good luck!!

My brother (getting married next month) and I are both using Flowers by Brian. My brother's fiance went in to see the samples and she said they looked good and is confident with them.

I have a friend whose family has used them for three weddings so far and has never been unhappy.

I liked them better than Pedalstals. they actually came in a little lower and gave us more for our money. They also are very flexible.

I used Towers Flowers in N Babylon...(631)242-0070 and couldn't be happier!! they did exactly what I wanted!! I had a lot of bouquets and corsages to do and it was under $2000

but I didn't have any ceremony flowers (hall provides that)

I also used Florissima in Huntington. They were very nice and helpful. Many of my family and friends have used them and have always gotten great results. I am not getting centerpieces from them since the hall provides those, but for all the other flowers I got (which were a lot!) and the church bows with flowers, they quoted me under $1000.

Re: Flowers Help!

dont feel bad about being blasted :)
I had a bad experience at pedestals myself
I was going to book them and danny is really nice and I could tell he felt bad but.... I went for an APPOINTMENT waited almost an hr then got someone else not him.... THEN went to see the sample and it was horrible, my mom and fyi mom were horrified and were like lets get out of here and then Danny was like if you can come back on a friday or sat we have better flowers, he admitted
'this is bad' and apologized, why waste our time to see crap, anyway, we didnt go back b/c both moms didnt want to. My FI's mom said she got a factory feel from them, I have heard they do nice work but they definetly didnt show it to us that day and even admitted the flowers were bad

I highly recommend Flower Michele Florist. John was so great to work with and so creative. He took my ideas and perfected them.

My flowers were amazing. People were complimenting the bouquets all evening. I've posted about John/Flower Michele many times. I simply loved his work.

And I thought it was great that he was there the day of the wedding setting up (and taking pictures of us).

If you go to him - ask him to see Lisa's pictures!

I second Lisat - John is just so nice and accomodating - especially for me since I had no idea what I wanted. I can't wait to see what he does with our flowers!!!!!
