flowers: low or high

Venetian yeacht club gives candelabras to use and they suggest putting flowers in a ring around the base. i saw a sample the other day and it looked kind of skimpy? any suggestions for low arrangements or do peopel typically prefer high centerpieces. I like high ones but I thought candle light may look nice since it is an evening wedding. help!!!!

Ours were low. People were able to talk to eachother and see eachother which was what we wanted. We had a large round bowl of 2 dozen red roses w/ white glass pieces in the water. It was wide so it took up some space on the table and didn't make it look skimpy. It looked very elegant. I prefer the low.

I prefer low b/c people don't have to arch their neck to talk to folks across the table.

it's a personal choice. I have been to weddings with high and liked them too.

High CP's are great if you have a hall with high ceilings and a big room.

I think when you FIRST walk into a room the HIGH look Fabulous!

HOWEVER, I WILL BE getting LOW because I prefer them throughout the reception, I have actually been to weddings where the high ones are in the way AND people ACTUALLY put them on the floor so they can chat with people at their tables... YIKES

Venetian is the old PJCC right?

If it is, you kinda really need high because the tables were very cramped when I was there....there wasn't an inch of space, and they had a tall narrow vase with a small base!

I prefer low. The high one's are stunning, no doubt...but IMO, just not great for cross-table chatting.

I prefer low for the reasons other people mentioned. I was at a wedding where someone kept moving the candlabra to take photos and I thought she was going to set something on fire.

My C-pieces were not spectacular, but I chose not to spend a ton of money on them. Part of the reason for that too was I wanted room on the table for everything without it feeling cramped.

The ballroom of the Temple has very high ceilings. Though I generally prefer low centerpieces. I felt the room would have looked empty if we didn't go with high ones.

low, even with high ceilings. Id rather my guests have an easier time communicating, than the room looking correct..

I have the same place as yours. I am doing low and candlelight. I hought with the view the candles would look amazing.

We talked about this at work today. If you want high maybe get your own pedestals and get rid of their cadelabras.

Venetian is the old John Anthony's....PJCC is now Lombardi's on the Sound.

We had high and they did not get in the way. The top part of the CP was higher than the people when they were sitting.

We also go married at PGCC and it wasn't cramped at all. We only had 130 people though. For larger weddings, I can see how it would get tight in there.

With a centerpiece like this:

I think people can communicate quite well. To be perfectly honest, For what this wedding is costing as a whole and for what my florist bill will be, I would not want the room looking empty and it would look EMPTY with low centerpieces. Temple ballrooms often do not have windows to add to the ambiance or the decor. There is no glow of light from the outside whether a night time or day time function is taking place. So, we count on the flowers and candles to make up for that.

I've been to many weddings and there is no problem with not being able to talk to everyone at the table. They are made high enough! It's all a matter of taste and what you like, when i was at a wedding at Lombardi's the girl had small cp's and IMO they got lost in the room, until you sat down at the table you didn't even notice her flowers.
