I used to never get a flu shot, until 5 years ago when my dad was sick, he has since passed on. I work for a doctor, and he never takes the shot. I get bronchitis every year which is I think far worse more then the flu. I have been scrambling to find where I can get a shot, only to also be on jury duty this week. I am sooo upset.When I call someplace including the local Govn't reps in my area, they tell me they do not want to hear it. I am so angry because I go above and beyond for the patients in my office especially when they really need us. I do not know what to do... I know it will not prevent the Flu, just weaken it... what would you do? I was told by pharmicists , 2 to be exact, that I should just up my vitamin intake , and take extra vitamin C along with my prenatal vitamins. Any advice? Any doctors out there with advice too? HELP!!!!!! My sister was told that 800 people showed up for the shot last week and they only had enough for 200 people, and another friend of mine said that there was a line around a drugstore today when she drove passed it! I also spoke to the CDC and they said that they are trying to get legisilation passed for the vaccines to get approved from Europe, and they are getting very picky about who can get these shots.

The doctor told me to take the RX.l I once had bronchial asthma . I think I am going to ask for Tamaflu. Or just up my vitamin C intake ... I was at pathmark today and there were people saving spots online for #'s! I thought this was very unfair... We got there by 10 am and they gave out all the #'s. I am so fustrated. But know I think I am getting a cold, so I do not think I can take a shot anyway. I am going to hope for the best, but I think I am going to be writing a letter to the CDC, Newsday , etc about how I was discrimainated aginst being an health care worker and an asthmatic, I have been screamed at, and told no one can help me it is too bad they heard everyones sob stories. It just angers me alot. I usually let things go, but this is crazy. I think there is going to be a riot somewhere- people are getting nuts. I am amzed at hopw mad people are- you should have heard them online at the store saying they were going to have a fight with anyone that cuts the line, etc.

My advice is to call the company who manufactures it and they will put you in touch with a rep who can tell you. I think all drugstores can get a drug within 24 hours.
Flumist is great but asthmatics cant take it. I know this for sure. All pharmacies in the area have Tamiflu. Hope this helps!

No one is picking up the phone at flumist. i am thinking of calling a place in canada if I have to. This is so fustrating.

That's REALLY messed up. I understand how you're feeling. most of my jobs have involved children and I have ashtma nd allergies and a really weak immune system, so i know how it is to need medical care like that. I mean, you NEED the flu shot. it shouldn;t be this runaround to get it.

The director of the CDC (Centers for Disease Control) was on the the CBS Early Show this morning, and said asthmatics are in the high risk group of people who should have first priority getting the flu shot!!!!
I would get a note from your doctor, then try to get the shot at your local drugstore. Try cvs.com, riteaid.com, walgreens.com, eckards.com -- I think they all list the days and times they are giving the flu shot!!!! Just get there at least 1 to 2 hours before they give the shot...

I agree. This is ridiculous!!!! My poor sister who is an eye docotor and trying to get pregnant cannot even get one. And she has patients breathing in her face all the time. I hope they relase more shots. I am hoping in a month they will have enough for everyone. Until then I guess I just have to hope I do not get it. Eckerds cancelled all of there flu clinics as well as Walgreens etc. Edired to add, I was at OPathmark 3 hours early and all of the #s were given out, including a lady who got a bunch of #'s for people that were going to show up later. Stop and Shop by me is having it tomorrow and they said they expect to have to have crowd control when they open in the morning. I know have a cold so there is no way I can get it tomorrow anyway.
