That stinks! Has it always been like that for him? Is she going through her second childhood, you know, when the kids are gone, sometimes moms & dads do whatever they want to do and to hell with whoever has a prob with it.

she has always been like this, but its not like all her children are gone one still lives with her she is just the type of person who really should have stopped after one kid b/c she can only focus her attention on one thing (person) at a time and for the past few years it hasn't been my baby boy. :( I don't think it ever will be all about him, I'm thankful he deals with it okay. I just wrap him up in love and so does my family so he is better now than what he was. Deep inside i know it still hurts him but he is okay

Re: FMIL

good for you. i have a similiar sitaution w/my FMIL, but kind of the opposite. see, she is very lazy work wise and just plain does not want to work. but she does, part time as a teacher's aide, nothing wrong with that. she feels that she should stay home for her kids. Ok, her 'kids' are 18, 20, and 24, not kids anymore. she gets so wrapped up in them that she can barely see anything that goes on around her. the whole family is like that, bad news travels like wildfire, but good news, like our engagement (yeah!) started out telling everyone, but then the flames burnt out. it gets very frustrating i understand, make sure y'all talk about it amongst yourselves. hope things get better
