FMIL

FMIL

So I was watching 'Whose Wedding is it Anyway' last night, and the brides FMIL got a BRIGHT red dress, and she was saying that her son was getting married and it was so special and she was going to make it her day and she was going to stand out, and the bride just pretty much kept her mouth shut, even though it bothered her.......so my question is, how would all of you react to something like that?

Re: FMIL

I would not mind. I am sure I will want to look fabulous one day when I have kids who are getting married - it is a big deal to a mom. Unless it is white - I want my mom and my FMIL to wear the most fabulous dress they find and feel wonderful in it! I would be so happy if they had great hair, great makeup and danced the night away in their fab dresses!

I'd laugh, nothing can take away from a bride on her day....MIL would just look like a fool, but to be honest red is none other but a color,

now...if the BM dresses were red and she wore red...i would FLIP OUT !!!!

i saw the show too. lol i would have been upset. No one should take the shine away from the bride and groom. its cool that she was excited about her son's wedding but no need to go overboard with a bright red dress that clashed with everyone else's clothes!

No matter how hard people try but no one can steal thunder from a bride.

It wouldn't bother me as long as she was happy with the dress. I don't know, those things don't bother me so much. I'm just so excited about the whole day.

Re: FMIL

I would be mad if FMIL tried to be over the top to steal my thunder, but I wouldn't be mad if she wanted to wear a red dress otherwise.

FMIL was actually really great about the dress thing -- she waited for my mom to pick a dress, then said she wouldn't pick out anything white/ivory, black, blue (didn't want to clash with the BM dresses), brown (my mom's dress color) and then asked me if I wanted to go dress shopping with her.

My mom and FMIL are both young, with awesome bodies and have beautiful dresses. They both have more 'sparkle' than mine, but I like simple/elegant and I'm not worried about them overshadowing me. They wont! I'm the bride!

I dont know...did she realy 'stand out' over the bride? lol

Im sure i would have gotten annoyed but....

Re: FMIL

Honestly I wouldn't care, I'm the bride no color will distract people from me - not that I'm trying to sound stuck up but it's my wedding day so nothing would matter.

I would be pretty upset since FMIL doesn't like the fact that her son is marrying me. But, I would ignore her because it's still my day and the bride outshines everyone.

as long as our mothers dont wear white i dont care. i want them to look beautiful and be happy with what they are wearing.

I give all you girls who said you wouldn't care credit!! I mean if it was fire engine red I would totally be annoyed! I would take it as a little 'dig' and as her trying to make some kind of point!

i would be ok i guess. if FMIL wearing a red dress is the only thing i have to worry about, ill be ok with it.

I wouldn't mind the red dress I would mind her feeling like it was her day... don't get me wrong it is the parents' day in a way because it is very special to see their kids getting married but as long she knew the day was really OUR day then I would be fine.... there is so much more to worry about then a MIL wearing red....now white is another story
