I fell in love with a dress (yes I know it's super early - but when you know, you know) and I'm going back in a week to try it on for my grandmas, MOH, and my mom (she was with me the first time). My mom really thinks that I should invite my FMIL to come with us because she only has sons and I should be nice and include her in on the whole experience since she probably would never get the chance to experience it.
I'm undecided on the whole idea of inviting her. I see the point of including her and stuff. My FH doesnt see the big deal in having her come, but he doesn't understand the whole dress picking experience.
What did you do?

FMIL and dress shopping???
I am not asking FMIL to join in on the dress hunt or to the fittings... I feel as though the dress part of planning is for me and my mom only.

FMIL and dress shopping???
My mom and I went together for my dress. I would not have invited my FMIL for the actual dress shopping as I feel that was something I wanted with my mom only. I would invite her to my first fitting though if I was you. I will not be taking my own advice though since FMIL will probably not be attending the wedding.

THIS. I brought my mom and two sisters.
I might ask her to go to my first fitting since she only has sons.

FMIL and dress shopping???
I ended up finding my dress alone when I didn't expect to find anything. I decided to keep it a surprise for everyone until the wedding day now. However, my mom lives in Kansas and FMIL is on LI. If I would've needed help, I would have asked her. I really love her like my Mom already.

I think that it definitely depends on the relationship you have with your FMIL. It is definitely a nice gesture and with boys in the family, I'm sure she would appreciate it- but once again it depends on your computability with her.
When I first began looking- just to get an idea of styles- I took my mom and my sisters.
When I knew that I was 'officially' going to try on dresses and plan on finding one to purchase, I invited my FMIL to join us and she was so flattered for the opportunity and for the thoughtful gesture. I think it is just another way to join the families.

FH's mom only has boys as well. I decided I only want my mom and my sister (also my MOH) to be there when I am trying on dresses and then I am going to bring my FMIL to one of the fittings so she feels included.

I invited FMIL, I am marrying her only child and my mother passed away 4 years ago.
