FMIL at final fitting question

Should she be invited to the final fitting? How 'inappropriate' is it not to invite her?

Re: FMIL at final fitting question

I wouldn't ahve enven thought to invite my FMIL, becasue I don't think it would even cross her mind. But we don't have that kind of relationship.

Does you FMIL want to go, had she asked?

If you are not comfortable with her there then don't invite her.

My FMIL is coming with me to my first fitting but only b/c my mom lives in NY and I live in DC. I think it depends on your relationship with her.

My preferance is to not invite her. I know she would love to go, but I am sure she won't come out and ask me directly if she can come.....

I did take her dress shopping with me once, back when I started looking, but she hasn't seen the dress I bought, except in photo's

I just need to know if its a huge NO NO not to include her

If she doesn't ask then I don't think it is a big deal, if you don't want her there.

I don't want everyone to see me in my dress before then, so it will be very limited group that sees me, probably not even my whole BP, until that day.

Re: FMIL at final fitting question

My FMIL has asked me several times to come and see my dress and I won't do it for a couple of reasons:

1) I don't want to steal my mom's thunder.. it's her day..

2) I want FMIL to be as surprised as everyone else that day.

3) she may say something stupid and I don't want anyone/thing ruining that moment for me..

I agree that it depends on your relationship with her. I will have my mom and FMIL and probably FSIL at all my fittings. My inlaws live in PA and thats where I bought the dress - my mom goes down with me to their house whenever I go to the dress shop.

I didn't want my FMIL there either. MarcellaBella said it best. I didn't ask her and she didn't ask me. I don't think there is any reason why you should have to ask her to come. I personally did not want anyone seeing me in my gown befor ethe big day. The only people who saw it was my mom and MOH.

My FMIL will be at my final fitting....she was there when I ordered my dress and will be there when it is finished. She has been a big part of the wedding planning and would be really hurt if I didnt invite her. I do agree with the rest of you though....it really depends on your relationship....this wedding planning and dress shopping really made us closer than we were.

You should think about inviting her, maybe have your fiance casually ask her if she would be interested. I think im going to ask my FMIL. After my sister got married she found out that her MIL really wanted to go with her, but my sister didnt think she wanted to so she wasnt invited. It all depends on how much you like the lady

Helen- I say HELL no!!!! Especially since your mam hasn't seen it yet. This will be a great thing for the 2 of you. Do not feel you HAVE to do this. I'm sure there are many MIL that didn't see there DIL dresses until the wedding day!

mine will be there.... my mom has little to no interest in my wedding , and my FMIL bought the wedding gown as an engagement gift for me & Pete......

Re: FMIL at final fitting question

It depends on your relationship with her and also your situation. Just ask yourself if it is really necessary to have her there. If you foresee her raining on your parade then I will say do not invite her. But if it is going to be special to have her present then invite her. I did not involved my FMIL to any because she is so opinionated sometimes that it drives me crazy. So she is going to see my dress on my wedding day like everyone else.
