My FMIL bought a white dress for the wedding! FH and I (and my parents)are so upset but I think that I have to suck it up. FH wants to go over there and tell her that he thinks it wrong but we got into a huge fight because I think that it will stir more problems with him going over ther. Like I said, I think we just have to suck it up. Any ideas?

I don't know what I would do. I would probably suck it up. She's the one that will look out of place. My FMIL is wearing a red dress. I just can't care anymore.

that's really outrageously rude...i'd probably want my fiance to say something to her if that was the case, and if she still won't change then it says a LOT about her and she will look ridiculous at your wedding. Everyone will be talking about how wrong it is, that's for sure. Maybe she's just THAT clueless??? doubtful...

Explain to her how you feel that the bride should be the only one to wear white at the wedding cause its your day and makes you stand out.
please dont just suck it up- show her the etiquette rules for this so she knows youre not just being beeyotchy about it

My FMIL, who is the queen of telling everyone the right way to do EVERYTHING!, is wearing off white palatizzo pants and a mauve top.
My dress is diamond white and my MOH is wearing purple. Go figure!

Don't give it a second thought. - YOU are the Bride. You are going to look absolutely amazing and undoubtedly be the center of attention. - SHE is going to look absolutely ridiculous and anyone with enough sense will know she should NOT be wearing white !

I think that I would tell my FMIL not to come if she bought a white dress...no way is this exceptable. You have probably been dreaming about this day since you were a little girl...its your turn to be a princess. How would your FMIL felt if someone close to the wedding party showed up in a white dress to her wedding?

Honestly, even if she wore a polka dot Moo Moo... YOU would still be the center of attention. You're the bride, and no one will confuse that.
i know its frustrating, and really, what possesed her to buy a white dress is beyond me, But before you (or FH) do or say anything to her, definately think about how important it is to you (b/c you kinda sound like your on the fence about your feelings about it). IF its really upsetting to you, then You should definately say something, and not let it eat away at you. But if its not that big of a deal to you, then let it go. i know its hard, but wedding planning is all about Choosing your battles

but KNOW that you will be the center of all attention that day no matter what she wears!!!
i wore off-white to my brother's wedding - my brother and SIL actually asked me to wear it instead of the other (blue) dress that i had because they thought the white one looked better. and trust me, i don't think anyone even noticed or cared about me wearing white!! my SIL was THE BRIDE, she was GORGEOUS, had the GLOW, and no one could take away anything from her (and i thought i looked pretty good that day!! )
