Re: FMIL dress question
I think its ok to wear black. Why not have her try on other colored dresses and pick the one she likes most

Black is fine to where these days to a wedding, but if you prefer her to wear a color you should inform her of that.

Re: FMIL dress question
FMIL actually bought her dress today, she didn't buy black but i think its ok to wear, don't see why it wouldn't be...the only thing and this is what girls at the store brought up is that the MOB and MOB should stand out a bit, and the thing is alot of girls do wear black to weddings, so if she wants to stand out more then yeah def go with another color.
I am personally going to steer my mom away from black dresses bc i do want her to stand out a bit

Re: FMIL dress question
My FMIL asked me the same thing - I think it is fine. It is weird actually, my colors are black, white and cranberry and FMIL and my mom didn't know that - and my mom said she wanted to wear cranberry.
So I guess we will all match

Re: FMIL dress question
I personally didn't want my mom or MIL in black because it was a saturday afternoon wedding, and it wasn't in my fall color scheme. I didn't mind my guests wearing black, just no one in the BP. It's up to you. If you have no problem with it, then let her know it would be fine. Everyone is different.
