FMIL- Future Family Advice Needed

Here is the issuse:

Fh and I are paying for the wedding. We have had help from my parents, aunts -buying my dress-, and my grandma-getting the favors.

Since we are paying for the reception hall by ourselves we are limiting the guest list to our friends and people in the family who actually know our first name.

FSIL and FMIL keep hinting that they are bringing guests. If our guest list was not so long in the first place, they definately good have. But, both FSIL and FMIL do not have significant others and are not seriously dating anyone. My FBIL however, has had a girlfriend for about 4 years, I know her and she knows us, therefore I would invite her. My other FBIL is married, so obviously his wife is invited. Do I have to extended 'and guest' to FSIL AND FMIL or just reserve one seat for them. I really don't want joeschmo of the street coming to my wedding. Plus..they will be busy with family they wont have time for a date.

Sorry it is long. HELP!!!! Thank you!

eek i am sorry you are stressed

however -
i dont feel it is appropriate to tell the groom's mother or sister ( ESPECIALLY mother ) that they cannot bring a guest.

If it were a coworker or something like that fine, but the MOTHER and SISTER of the groom definitely deserve a guest. . .even if you do not know who they are going to bring.

sorry

Ah, you are probably right but it just bothers me. They do not have any serious significant other. Annnnnddddd they are the mother of the groom and a BM..they should be dancing and busy!

Im with you on this. FH and I are having a hard time with the guest list because of this. Some of his friends have girlfriends who they keep breaking up with or who they are having open relationships with and its no fair to us. Its driving me crazy but at the end of the day, I dont care whos feelings I hurt, its OUR day not theirs...

I would suck it up and invite those 2 people w/ guests since its immediate family.

I draw the line with others though.

We're not inviting FMIL with a guest and that was FH's idea. She wanted to bring a random guy from the internet so you can see why we would not invite her with one. However, if she was normal and was willing to bring a normal person we would absolutely invite her with a date.

True true but theyre not helping to contribute to the wedding in any way. And because of that should understand why they are not going to be allowed to bring some joe schmo from off the street to their wedding. Why should they have to cut down the list and not invite people they would love see there. I they were helping, then fine I would say its only right to invite them with a guest but theyre not...
