FMIL- Future Family Advice Needed

Original post by TheMrandMrsof2008

Here is the issuse:

Fh and I are paying for the wedding. We have had help from my parents, aunts -buying my dress-, and my grandma-getting the favors.

Since we are paying for the reception hall by ourselves we are limiting the guest list to our friends and people in the family who actually know our first name.

FSIL and FMIL keep hinting that they are bringing guests. If our guest list was not so long in the first place, they definately good have. But, both FSIL and FMIL do not have significant others and are not seriously dating anyone. My FBIL however, has had a girlfriend for about 4 years, I know her and she knows us, therefore I would invite her. My other FBIL is married, so obviously his wife is invited. Do I have to extended 'and guest' to FSIL AND FMIL or just reserve one seat for them. I really don't want joeschmo of the street coming to my wedding. Plus..they will be busy with family they wont have time for a date.

Sorry it is long. HELP!!!! Thank you!

We're not inviting FMIL with a guest and that was FH's idea. She wanted to bring a random guy from the internet so you can see why we would not invite her with one. However, if she was normal and was willing to bring a normal person we would absolutely invite her with a date.

LOL is he from down south howdown parts??

lol no he's from smithtown but his mother and sister moved down to NC when he was around 18, not FH, he's a yankee!

2 plates is not a big deal but... I guess I will just have to do it!

Yeah I guess so. It ***** that there are so many rules about the gueslist and people you HAVE to invite because of the politics. And not wanting to upset anyone when it should be us who shouldnt have to compromise on anything. The most drama Ive encountered is over the guestlist!

NO, that's the thing, every week she meets someone and thinks she's moving across country or to a different country to be with them. Meanwhile she talks to them on the internet for 3 weeks and then they're old news.

I agree with the other girls....You should probably let them come with guests...In the end, when all is said and done, it won't be worth it to not let them.

as a grown woman i would be deepl- offended if i were not allowed to decide for m-self if i wanted to bring someone
going to a wedding alone is NOT FUN
even if its famil-

i agree and on top of that for the fact that it is the FMIL and FSIL they really should be given this choice. Be glad they want to invite just a guest each, usually families give you a guest list that is pages long lol. Also you have to think about this, do you really want to cause problems just for 2 guests that two VERY important people at the wedding want to bring, i honestly dont think its worth it to cause problems with your FH's family for something like this
