FMIL is driving me (us) nuts

FMIL is driving me (us) nuts

I don't want to be a ***** or a bridezella, but if she doesn't stop interfeering soon, I am not sure I will be able to stop myself from getting so mad at her that I completely exclude her from all future wedding things.

Here are a few examples
Saturday we had a food tasting, and we invited them. they are paying for their guests. Well we are sitting at the table for over an hour, and the host comes over to talk to use and she starts asking him tons of questions, that we had no warning were coming....FH got ****ed and cut her off, and then she was 'hurt'

We picked readings, and showed them, put them in the program, asked people to be the readers and gave them copies and spoke to the priest. Last night I get an email asking me am I sure we want this reading - she found other Interfaith reading - would I like to see them - NO, and butt out

She tells me staurday she would like to invite her stepsisters. She would like to start to include them in family events. I hardly know them - tonight I will be emailing her that they are not going to be invited.

Just spoke to FH - and she sent him a bunch of quesiotns
- will the hall provide the Challah?
- does the band know we'll be doing challah?
- do we know we need a marraige license ***????

She is totally bugging my MOH about the shower - new ideas all the time. MOH says she can handle her, and - get this - she shouldn't even ben involved in the shower. the girsls are doing me a favor and letting her be involved....my mistake from the beginning.

I spoke to my mom on the phone this weekend and started telling her about it, and her advice was to let her be - FH is her only child, but u know what - if she thinks she can get away with it now, she'll keep it up the rest of my life.

I really need to tactfully tell her to butt out, FH is talking to her tonight, he's as fed up as I am

Another thing - she checks the regiustry all the rime and tells us whats been bought. I can do that
myself if I want - AND I DON'T

Seriously, if she doesn't leave us alone, I will say something I know I will regret later

oooh just talking about it is getting all worked up again

Yes definately let FH talk to her.
Good luck Helen

FH should talk to her immediately and let her know the line has been crossed!

Fortunately, my FMIL knows me well enough to know not to interfere...I have enough trouble w/ my Mother!

Okay, just breathe and try to calm down.

Here's what I think:

Your FMIL has one child... I'm sure she is very excited and doesn't realize that she is interfering too much. If I were you, I'd keep my mouth shut though. Your FH is the person to tell her where she can and cannot voice her opinion. That is something you never want to do is come between a mother and her son! I'm glad he is speaking to her tonight, that should settle everything. Good luck and keep us posted!

for you! Try to cheer up!

I think your FMIL is very excited about the wedding. If she is interfering all the time, its a good idea to have her son talk to her.I think the less you tell her,the better off you are.She can't complain if she doesn't know what you are doing.

Novemberbride

I completely agree with you, and I know a lot of it is my fault for letting her know too much. well lesson learnt - who would have known she would turn into a FMIL-zilla

dubliner:Try not to let her get to you.I'm sure she means well. She is just very excited. If she asks you what you are doing for something, just respond with 'we haven't decided.'Then change the subject.Good luck.

Re: FMIL is driving me (us) nuts

I had that problem a few weeks ago. SHe kept calling and saying 'how about this place, or this place?' (for reception). When we would say no she'd say 'why not?? whats wrong with it?' UGH!!! i said no... i know what places are out there and i already had a list of places. I really didn't feel like explaining myself either.
So now i try to tell her as little as necessary. Haven't seen any money from you, so butt out.
Thank god my mom lives in PA. She wouldn't be this bad though.

Just keep in mind you are going to have to deal with her the rest of your life...

Just think how she will be when you begin to have children

tracy
my mom is in Ireland

I was talking to my MOH about this and she said her parents are the same - whenever they give money, there are alway strings attached.
My parents are helping too. Originally they were going to bering the check when they come over in May, but I asked for it last month, just to know we have it and I got it right away - no conditions, no questions, nothing
Meanwhile my parents are throwing a party in Ireland in July for the non-attendees, and no pressure from them at all.

So from now on - limited communication with FMIL

Will post the update of FH conversation later.
At least we are on the same page here - in fact I think he's more annoyed, bc he's actullay buffering some of the emails before I get them

Helen. My FH is an only child also and OH do I understand where you are coming from!!!!!!

My FMIL is exactly the same way. I don't think they mean to be this way, however, it is sooooooooooooooooooo annoying!!!!

Hang in there and try to keep the peace

I am going through a similar situation, I just dont know what the right thing to do is other than have FH talk to her and just yes her to death and do what you want anyway lol.

why do they do this to us, we will all really become BRIDEZILLA!!

Re: FMIL is driving me (us) nuts

Dubliner, please have FH talk to her. this is getting out of hand. Nip this in the bud, otherwise things will get worse.

Re: FMIL is driving me (us) nuts (some update)

Well I sent the email telling her that I was not including the extra people in the shower invitee list. I explained that the shower is small and made up of 'close' friends, and I hardly know these women

FH is going to speak to her later about the rest

Re: FMIL is driving me (us) nuts (some update)

I know you are upset now but try to be happy that she is interested in the wedding. My FMIL could care less about the entire event. Sometimes I think she sees the wedding as an inconvenience and a total waste of money ( our money by the way)

I'm sorry, it seems like we need a happy medium for FMIL. I am sure I'd be complaining if she wasn't interested either

Re: FMIL is driving me (us) nuts (some update)

I have to agree with that my mom isnt really into anything and it bothers me just the same., but i would love it if FMIL wasnt interested and it was opposite lol
