Well one of my BMs sent my email attached to her email RSVP-ing to the rehearsal dinner and his mom IMMEDIATELY calls me and starts lecturing me on how it is not obvious to her that everyone is coming and how is SHE to know people's dates names or if they are even bringing one, etc...
I just thought I was sending a nice reminder email.... Apparently it was rude. Who knew?
Lesson Learned: Don't email anything you don't want getting back to the person you are talking about.

Honestly, I didnt think that it sounded rude at all. Seems like she just took it the wrong way. It's not like you said 'so that Jeff's mom shuts up and leaves me alone' Now that I would say is rude

I can see how she MIGHT have taken it to have a tone that you didn't imply (ohhh online communication!), but she's still overreacting! you're fine, she'll get over it!

online communication can be so bad because the same sentence can be interpreted 10 different ways by 10 different people. i don't think your response was rude at all, but i think the word 'obviously' can be taken as offensive to some people. i bet that was the word that provoked it. JMO

Okay -- so I was feeling the same way, like I didn't do anything rude, but she was so upset about it that I automatically felt bad. Even worse, she called FH and now he is upset that I upset his mom.

Yeah I really don't think that was rude at all. I mean just like you said, she needs a final head count and might need more details. You are just telling people to address her directly. Nothing wrong with that. Tell her to take a chill pill

She called your FH?? oh geez....sounds like she needs to grow up. I'd just say listen, I am sorry you took it the wrong way, i was just writing an informal e mail to my friends asking for their response. It in no way was meant to offend you.
