I am so mad right now. i have been having serious FMIL issues. it starts out that when we got engaged (2 weeks ago mind you) my FMIL and FFIL were disappointed with my FH for not including them, etc. and asked him if he made the right decision (control issue). Then my FMIL saw my mom today and she didnt even say hi. I saw them and noone asked to see my ring ( its beautiful) or even mentioned the engagement.
They keep bringing up issues from the way past and its getting to be redic.
not to add insult to injury but when FMIL and FFIL tell FH they are unhappy, my FH becomes a coward!
sooooo mad.
sorry to vent, thanks for listening.

Re: FMIL issues!
I'm sorry you have to deal with family drama. What they are doing isn't right, they should be happy for their son and support his choice to marry you.

I am so sorry to hear this, I hope things get better. Try to talk to FH about it and work it out. This is your future and he chose you to be his wife.

Wow that's crazy! That was the first time she saw you and she didn't ask to see your ring?

AAAAH, The greatness of a FMIL. I went through the same thing. You need to say how you feel in a nice way to her. As far as FH tell him that your going to be his WIFE.
Something about MIL when it comes to there boys.... Let go ladies!!!

Re: FMIL issues!
I had to deal with FH not having a pair for the first 3 years of our relationship. His mother his life....Hang in there girl...and tell FH that if you are going to be his wife, he needs to learn to stand up for the both of you - I know exactly how you feel it's so frustrating. It's such an exciting time for you and of course all you want to do is show off your bling - I think it's just immaturity on FIL's part and them not wanting to let go.
Good Luck and don't worry everything will work out, you are marrying him not his family!

That is not right..... you should talk to FH and maybe he will stand up for you! Now that you are going to be his wife he needs to take your side and stick up for you.
The parents need to get over themselves. Cut the cord!!

I'm sorry you have to deal with this today, I would just do my best to stay away from them during the planning process, you really dont need to be around anyone that is not truly happy for you. I know it is his parents but, they cant control who he loves and wants to marry and they probably dont want to let go

Re: FMIL issues!
Im sorry your going thru that drama!!! Maybe you should sit down with them and have a talk about it and explain how you feel, and they them voice whatever bull **** issues they have from the past and explain to them the past is the past no one is perfect, you and FH have grown up and are planning to be husband and wife and you both are happy and they should be happy for you guys!
I think everyone has a little family drama when they first get engaged...parents just dont like losing control of their kids and want to still be included and have say in every single aspect of their lives still....in time it will get better!!!

Re: FMIL issues!
thanks...this is only getting more crazy. we are builing an apartment so we both still live home, but he stays over my house and then goes back to his in the am....yesterday the FMIL refused to make him lunch (they own a family buisness and she makes lunch everyday for him and his dad) and yelled at him for 10 minutes. its so redic., we arent that young!
should i contact her if he wont, i dont want my life to be like this!

I think that FH really needs to talk with FMIL...... and maybe you need to be included in the discussion.. maybe explaining how you feel to her would help? if you both sat down with her... idon't know..... i guess it would really depend on the TYPE of person that she is.

Take it from me - talk it out now. I've been married 3 years, just had my 1st baby, (planning my sister's wedding for 09) - it gets worse. If you clear the air now - calmly, nicely - you may avoid trouble in the future.
I could write a book about my mil saga

I would approach FH first. If he understands you and where your coming from then either confront together of take it apon yourself.

Gotta agree with this wise lady! My sister had the same problem when she got engaged and didn't say anything at the time. It does get worse...my poor sister after 18 years still gets bullied by her mil.
