FMIL made me upset {VENT}

Ok yesterday was mother's day. FH and I decided no gifts just cards because we are trying to save our money for the wedding. I went out 2 weeks ago and brought 12 cards bt the two of us for both families. We went to my family house ate, talk, laugh and then exchange gifts. I only had cards but everyone thought it was so beautiful. So we go over to his house we give his mom and sister their cards. His mom opens the card and says 'Where is the money? Where is my money?' This is mother's day I want my money. What is the point of mother's day if you dont get money. Now he told me she would not appreciate a card but it was a very nice card straight from the heart. She did not read but put it down and walk out the room. The look on his face. he looked like he wanted to cry. i patted him on the back and we left. I did not want to be disrespectful but i told her if she give back the card i can probably return she said ok. I really cant believe his mom. Sorry I had to vent

wow! I can't believe she actually did that! I thought tantrums were for 2 yr olds! You would think as a mother that she would understand your situation...

im sorry you had to go through that ...you would think you fmil would understand knowing how much wedding cost...and we all know $$ doesnt grow on trees.....that is sooo rude... whatever happened to 'its the thought that counts'

Just realize that youjust can't please everyone!!

not to mention who gives their mother money on mothers day.. or really any holiday (not including a GC)?

What did your FH say? Boy, this really makes me appreicate the fact that my FMIL is as awesome as my mom is! Maybe she'll get better over time...hang in there.

Wooo that is soo rude!

I would have been sooo mad. Honestly she was acting like a 3 year old!
Also she needs to be less selfish and consider that you and FH are saving for the wedding.

I never gave anyone money on Mothers Day- most of my relatives get cards and are very happy to get that.

I appreciate every response everyone had to say. Yes, I just want to say F you to her..No she is not contributing anything to the wedding...all she keeps asking me is what color do she wears and keeping adding her friends to a limo that we dont even have for her. My FH said he knew she was going to act like that so that is why he had ask me before we left to go to her house if we could put $20 in her card. I told him we agreed no gifts and if he wanted to give money I could have brought a PJ's set. He says that she doesnt appreciate anything but money from him {no flowers,plants,pj's} he cant buy any of those things because she dont want it. He was still a little sad about this morning because she just dont understand. we just moved in together {I am so glad i did not move in her house}, planning a wedding and trying to keep our credit clean. Oh yeah his b-day is tomorrow and he told me watch she is not going to call him and it is not because she is mad it is because she is not going to remember it is his b-day.
