FMIL ordered her dress ....BEFORE my mom got hers!

My mom was planning on navy but FMIL got her dress and asked if my mom wanted to wer the same color as her- brown.

Are they supposed to be the same.

Im glad she got a dress but Im a little peeved b/c my mom already planned on navy.

I'm sorry and i'm sure youre upset, but i am always honest so i will just give my honest opinion

coming from someone that doesnt have a FMIL, i understand what you're saying, but look at it this way
she is excited and enthusiastic and obviously looking forward to your special day

i think those things are far more important than what color she's wearing

neither of my moms have their gowns yet.....my mom def. wants to get hers first. Regardless, i don't really care what color FMIL wears, shes blonde so she tends to go for blues and pinks....my mom is a total guini so shes usually in darker colors....my girls are wearing black and taupe....majority color is black....i'm gonna try to get my mom to wear black and taupe too....having issues finding a gown. Not for nothing....if it makes you feel better---now you know what FMIL's gown looks like....your mom can up her now i'm bad

My step-mom got her dress before my mom, but it's really because my mom is still dragging her feet because she wants to loose 20 pounds... FMIL has looked but hasn't found it yet. They have all had different colors in mind when all this started so I have informed them all of the colors they each wanted and they have been good with keeping that in mind.

Are your bridesmaids wearing black and blue? I am only asking because I think brown and blue look great together, but maybe that's just me...

yeah, i think brown and blue looks really elegant together.....my sister almost did that.....then she wanted brown and pink...somehow she wound up with wine lol

I like the chocolate brown with the blue, but then the black tuxes and i thought it was too many colors going on s we got rid of the brown.

like i said- she wont clash

im glad she found a dress and all, but now my mom feels like she has to wear brown and doesnt want to. i told my mom to wear blue if she wants. I dont care.

If you FMIL is wearing brown I don't think your mom should wear brown at all!

FMIL should have waited to see what kind of style of dress MOB was getting not just color. But I guess it was a good thing she did not get the Lighter shade of blue-

I told my FMIL not to buy a dress or decide on a color until my mom decided. She was outlooking at dresses at the same stores my mom went to, so I had to say something. She totally agreed, but I got nervous for a second. I just made it sound like my mom was having a hard time b/c she was a plus size lady and his mom isn';t so she has more to choose from.

I feel your pain. My FMIL hasn't gone out and bought her dress yet, but every freaking time I talk to her about anuthing wedding related, she asks me if my Mom has chosen her color yet. Listen lady- I haven't even found MY dress yet. My mom is totally cool with it and once I get my dress she will figure out hers. And then FMIL keeps saying she thinks of wearing a specific color that is VERY close to the color of my girls dresses which I don't want. Seriously, who do FMIL think they are???

I understand your rant...my FMIL said to me that she wouldn't pick a dress without my mother deciding what color she is going to wear first. Do you know how far in advance the MOB should start to look for a dress?? My mother and I haven't gone yet.

I don't know for sure, but I am getting by dress by the end of the year and Mom will get hers by the begining of 2008. I am sure it takes a few months, but probably not as long as the bridal gowns. But Don't quote me, I am just assuming

I wouldnt care, nor would my mother, i prefer to let them pick the color and what they want in hopes they can wear again... my moms probably wearing black, and fmil can wear whatever she wants..... i dont think its a big deal IMO

are they supposed to match or not match? my mom is looking now and FMIL hasnt looked yet. she's just going to avoid the color of the bridal party or white, and shes going to try to avoid black too. i told her anything else is fine as long as it is a long dress.
