FMIL made me a necklace to wear to the wedding.... actually, she made me 3 to choose from, I really had my heart set on other jewlery that I have yet to buy. How do I tell her I will not be wearing the neclaces she made w/o hurting her feelings?
that sounds a little touchy ....You could tell a white lie ....you love it and it means so much to you but your something old was your grandmothers necklace and you had your heart set on wearing it
Maybe you can think of a nice way to incorporate the necklace without actually wearing it? Perhaps use it accent your bouquet?

IMHO, I would wear it. If not to the ceremony, then to the reception. She obviously put a lot of effort into making 3 for you to chose from, and you haven't actually gone out and spent any money to buy something. Take the money you save from buying the other jewelry and buy yourself something else.
You could 'conveniently' leave it home!
