FMIL Rant -*** is wrong with this woman??? ADVICE NEEDED!

I told future MIL (who is constantly a royal pain in the ***) to buy a dress in one of the following FOUR colors: Purple, Sage, Champagne, or Brown.

Said pain in the *** just informed FH that she bought her dress....(c'mon girls you know where this is going yep....you guessed it! ;) FMIL bought a GRAYdress with BLACK swirls? ***???

GRAY/BLACK is NOT ******* Purple, Sage, Champagne, or Brown!!!!

Its a vineyard wedding. Not an evening wedding at the plaza!!!!

Am I being a bridezilla? How would you handle this?Advice Please. Also, she has contributed NOTHING---neither financially or emotionally. She's not even hosting the rehersal. This was the ONE request I made of her. I invited ALL of her friends & have been very accomodating always.

Omg!! I swear some FMIL's are too much. Mine hasn't even bought her dress yet

Honestly I wouldn't do anything about it. She is an adult and if that's what she wants to put on her body then so be it. There isn't much you can do about it. You can't really dictate who wears what. As long as it isn't white just count your blessings!

Personally I don't care what FMIL wears... as long as she is happy in it and feels comfortable.

My mother wants to wear this outrageous dress AND she is walking me down the aisle. She hasn't found it yet... but she's looking for something specific. She wants it to be silver, low cut, tight, and TOTALLY sequens or sparkles of some sort! Did I mention that she is walking me down the aisle???? Haha! My BM told her 'I think that might be too much, you are walking her down the aisle'. I'm torn. I feel like it's too much but at the same time it's my mother and if that's what she wants to wear and that would make her happy then so be it. But then I think.. she IS walking me down the aisle!!!!! She tried on a dress that was beaded and stuff but ONLY on the top so that wasn't good enough. Also she said it wasn't low cut enough or tight enough. See it could always be worse!! We shall see how this plays out and what she decides in the end.

I understand where you are coming from. And how she won't really match the theme and what not. But this is a battle that's not so worth it IMHO. It HONESTLY could be a WHOLE lot worse!!!!

WOW cant believe she waited until 1month to get a dress, maybe there is hope. talk to your fhand see what he can do. dont let it ruin your day. its just a dress.

Sorry to crash but in all honesty, it is what she wants to wear to her son's wedding. Shouldn't she have the right to pick the color she feels comfortable in? Look at it this way, at least she bought a dress and will look presentable at your wedding.

maybe those colors were not flattering on her, or maybe she couldnt find anything she liked in those colors, its very hard to dress shop, and unfortunately she waited until the last minute, beggers cant be choosers.

I would just leave it alone- My FMIL drove me crazy about what type of dress to buy and she too bought what she felt like. It is your day and no matter what she is wearing everyone is going to be focusing on you!

kerri- hope your mom finds it soon, my wedding is about 1 month before yours, and my mom ordered her dress 3 weeks ago (and fmil) and that was the last day before they charge you a ridic 'rush' fee (yea at 4 months)-totally wack

I don't think my FMIL purchased her dress yet, but she did wait to start looking until my mother bought her's. I don't care what she wears as long as it's not white or red, I'm cool with it. Most important thing is that she is comfortable.

I will be honest, with the economy the way it is stores have a LOT less options then they usually do other years. Its been so hard to find decent dresses, let along in set colors. My mom had her heart set on pink but just couldn't find a pink dress that flattered her so she settled on blue.

I think is more important that she is comfortable and looks good then is in a particular color scheme. I could see limiting her from wearing certain colors, but I don't think you should limit her to certain colors. Its to hard to find dresses.

JMO but I think you have to let this go. Its not that bad. At least she didn't pick white.

OH WOW!! Thanks for this!!! My mother is paying for her own dress... so that's like the punishment for waiting so long!! hahaha! She really should get on that. Her and my grandmother need dresses and so does FMIL. Honestly I was more concerned with getting the BM and FG dresses than theirs. They can pick their own so I feel off the hook for that. It's on them!! Which makes me feel relieved! But I will def pass the message along to them so they know to get a move on or it will cost them!
Thanks again girl!

i would just leave it alone..im sure she didnt do it to piss u off..maybe she just loved this dress so much..or maybe she just thought it looked perfect on her...i really dont know what to say because i dont care what color fmil wears..i gave her free range..just want her to be comfy..

of course if u really want her to match than by all means say something to her..maybe find a few on the computer and show them to her,but if its not that big,id let it go.she might get offended and start a fight and its not worth the drama

I don't know if there's much you can do. I requested that FMIL does not wear light colors, like no ivory, beige, cream, or white...which yes, were apparently viable and accepted options. As long as she picks a color, that's dark, I'm not too concerned which color it is. I wouldn't even be offended if it was mourning black lol, in fact, I'd be thrilled.

I dont really think there is anything you can do ya know? I totally understand why it bothers you, Ive color coordinated EVERYTHING with my wedding, but I have to agree with the girls on this one... Its VERY hard out there dress shopping and on top of that they are REALLY expensive so if she found something that made her feel beautiful and its not white, beige, ivory OR super sexy and RIDICULOUS (cause Ive seen that and was embarassed FOR the bride AND her mother! LOL) then I would say let this one go... TRUST ME with 23 days left until my wedding there is SOOOO MUCH MORE that is going to STRESS you out...

how about my FgrandmotherIL's dress HASNT COME IN YET?!!!!!!!!!! I told my FMIL 10 times to take her to a store where she can purchase something OFF THE RACK NOT order because she waited until JUNE to go dress shopping... DO YOU THINK SHE LISTENED TO ME? NO she goes to some store that ends up NOT having a GOOD reputation for getting dresses in ON TIME AND has even worse reputation for alterations!!!!! So its July 2nd and grandma has NO DRESS!!!!!! AWESOMEEEEEEE and they keep telling her OOO this week, ooo this week!!!!!!! EVERY WEEK NOW FOR 3 WEEKS!!!!!!!!

but honestly not my problem not even going to waste one of my sleepless nights ON that I have a ton of other stuff to be concerned about LOL

AND also if you have an otherwise good relationship with this woman then THATS just another reason to not be angry... I dont think she did anything to be vicious, most women feel MOST comfortable in black because its slimming... And maybe thats what SHE fell in love with and just felt beautiful in it... Remember shes the mother of the groom its a VERY big night for her too =))) BUT NOTHINGGGGG will take away from your night, its all about you! =))

Re: FMIL Rant -*** is wrong with this woman??? ADVICE NEEDED!

Oh I feel your pain! My FMIL actually bought her dress BEFORE I even picked colors for the BM dresses. When I was a little peeved at that and FH called her about it , she told FH that she didn't understand what the big deal is I could color coordinate my wedding around her! (Remember that drama-filled thread everyone???)

Anyway, I have since picked chocolate brown BM dresses, FH is wearing what she calls forest green, however the swatch is army green. My mother doesn't even have a dress yet and hasn't even looked for one (different story all together, but Kerri I feel your pain too).

When the swatches of the BM dresses and FMILs dress are next to each other, it looks like dead leave - just what every girls dreams of on her wedding day

I just learned to laugh it off......
