FMIL to Bachelorette Party?!

FMIL to Bachelorette Party?!

So last night Kevin and I took his mom to a limo place to find out prices for the wedding. Kevin asked how much it would be for a limo for his bachelor party for X amount of hours. His mom then procedes to ask me, what are WE doing for your bachelorette party? I quickly responded I have no clue my MOH is in charge, all I have to do is show up hehe I know my mom said if I was doing something crazy she doesn't want to go. Do I take my FMIL without my mom? Thanks!!

If you are comfortable with her, then for sure! My mom and my FMIL will be there! We're having my Bachelorette party the Wednesday prior to the wedding so all of my close friends and family members can attend! I can't wait!

I don't want my mom or FMIL going to my bachelorette party. My friends and I will probably go to the city, get crazy and stay out very late. My FH already told me that it is rude if I don't invite his mom, but I see a bachelorette party as being out with your friends and having fun for the 'last' time.

the moms might come with us to dinner and then leave when we go out afterwards....

i guess it depends on what you do... i don't think the moms will come to mine.. unless we do dinner local or something & then go out after. I don't think it is necessary though... i think the norm is you just go out with your friends etc.

My FMIL may not like me after the bachelorette party

I doubt she would want to come.

Why would FMIL think that she would be invited!!?? Everyone knows what you do at a Bachelorette party!!

If you like her then sure. I can't stand mine so I would 'Throw momma from the limo'

No way. There is something wrong with that picture. I would not invite her. I would just tell her that they surprised you.

It's quite common (and somewhat traditional) to invite the mothers to the bachelorette party. If you're having a low-key BP, then I would say 'why not?' If you're doing the stripper thing, then its really a matter of your comfort level.

We're not having strippers or going to any of those type of places, so we're inviting the moms.

Thanks for the advice girls! Yes I love my FMIL dearly but I was hoping for my bachelorette party to be a girls night out with my sister and closest friends! Let's hope that she doesn't bring this up again!!!

We are going to dinner then getting crazy. The 'adult women' aka mom, FMIL, grandmas will come to dinner but after that its party time!

why don't you have some cocktails and food before you girls leave for your night out on the town, so this way the moms feel they are a part of the celebration. That's prob what we will do for mine. HTH!

Since your mom said she's not going...then that is her choice. It's not like you invited one and not the other. Both my mom and FMIL are coming to mine.

ooo, my FSMIL mentioned that she couldn't wait for my Bachelorette party. I think it could be cute for moms to join, but I think at some point they should go home. The problem is, FMIL can't stand FSMIL, but FSMIL is so warm and sweet and doesn't have a problem with her. I think my easiest choice is no moms, I don't want to hurt anyone's feelings. They can see wild pictures the next day.

If your mom and FMIL get along then I say bring them!

Re: FMIL to Bachelorette Party?!

It is pretty common (sometimes) for the FMIL and the MOB to go to Bachelorette Parties- I have seen this in the past a few times... BUT I have never seen them go along for the 'crazy night out' type of party (I'm sure it still happens but I have never seen that personally). I have seen them come along for the Spa parties or dinner parties... So, it's up to you. Maybe you could invite her (b/c apparently she really wants to be included and assumed that was the way it was going to be)... So maybe you could invite her to dinner and then go out afterwards... Make it clear to her that she is to come to dinner only lol (if you choose the 'crazy party after) because I don't think she would feel comfortable at Hunkamania or Culture Club w/ you doing shots and stuff lol.

Maybe have FH handle that one. But I do think if you don't include her in some way she is going to be hurt and offended (only b/c she invited herself so she must think that she should be apart of it).

For me, Vin's Mom and my Mom will not be there- but that is only because we are doing a very unique 'Jack and Jill' party- I'm over the 'drink all night, dance on the bar' phase- To this day I only go out once or twice a year and really 'drink' and I'm 22 lol so I'm rare in that sense, I know. And I was never ON the 'naked guys jiggling' phase to begin with....BLECK!!! So, we are having just our BP members (they are all coupled with other BP members with a few exceptions) out to dinner- just a simple dinner party, elegant, with some dancing afterwards. Everyone is either engaged or married in my BP and they are 'over that' as well... So, I would have invited Vin's Mom and my Mom but since it's the young couples Vin's Mom told me that we should be doing our own thing that night- it would be more fun that way. And I know already that my Mom would feel the same way. So, we'll have fun- it'll be really intimate and nice for me and Vin and our BP... the way we like it... we are so close w/ our BP members- they are the ones that have always been there for us and have always been good to us- and will continue to be that way all our lives so that's VERY important to us.

agreed!
We're most likely going to do the wineries tour by limo, then have dinner afterwards.

I'm close with both Moms and my Grandma, and I couldn't imagine them not coming!
