fmil vent

ok this is going to be a long one...

Right before Thanksgiving, FH found out his grandfather (that lives in a retirement community in Florida) has cancer that spread through his body and he has less then a year to live. very sad and he is depressed.
FMIL told him they are considering moving his grandfather to Massachusetts to a different facility so he can be closer to family (FMIL lives in NY but has siblings in Mass - plus its a car ride vs a plane ride). Anyway, he hadnt heard anything else until saturday when he went onto facebook and saw his mom posted her status saying she gets to fly on a private jet. when someone asked why she wrote that she has to medically transport her parents up north. more people kept commenting and she wrote down the dates of the transport and then the dates they are moving his stuff etc.
She posted all this without even calling FH! FH called her and flipped out on her! she says she did nothing wrong and thinks he is over reacting...meanwhile all he said is that he deserves a phone call and not to read this on facebook. she doesnt see it from his viewpoint at all. in her comments she even wrote that she has frequent flyer mileage to use now that she wont be going to Florida anymore etc...as if she is happy about this and also seeking attention at the same time. The conversation ended on the phone and FMIL then texts FH saying 'no one cares that im missing another holiday bc of this' and FH wrote back that she doesnt seem to care she is more excited to fly in a private jet and use her mileage! FMIL wrote back..'enough already' and that was the end...or so i thought.
FH got an email yesterday from FMIL saying she is the mother and doesnt get spoken to that way and she can post whatever she wants on FB. etc etc etc (i wish i could access his email and post this email for you ladies to read)

I am sooooooo aggravated by this and there is soooo much i want to say but cant bc its not my place! i also know that as mad as FH is at her now, in a few days he will cool off and everything with them will be fine...and if i say something he doenst like about FMIL he will hold it against me forever. UGHHHH why is she so difficult. are we completely over reacting to ask for the common courtesy of a phonecall?!?!?

vent complete!

Is that her father? Honestly, she might be very upset and her way of dealing IS kind of looking for attention/making light of the situation (i.e. traveling on a private plane). I know this isn't what you want to hear, but I think you are being a tad bit harsh on her. Everyone deals with these types of situations differently. Then again, I don't know this woman from a hole in the wall so I could be completely off.

yes it is her father and this could be the way she is coping (but she is ALWAYS a drama queen and seeking full attention). FH didnt say he cared that she posted it on facebook he just said he cared that he didnt get a phonecall. he normally does not even go onto facebook it just so happens he went on saturday shortly after she posted it (he goes on maybe once a week if that much).
if she wants to post on facebook and get attention from her 'friends' that is fine. but not to tell her son about it just seems messed up IMO (yes i am biased bc this is on the long list of things she has done to aggravate us lol)

I agree she should have told your FH and maybe she didn't bc her way of dealing with it I don't know...but when your FH confronted her, she should have apologized about not telling him sooner.

Either way I don't think it's worth you getting involved...the main thing here is the grandpa and the fighting will make things worse I'm sure.
