It *****...but I've learned mothers have a VERY hard time letting their sons. So I agree with pp...if she wants to waste $50 on balloons that you'll see for 2 days and never again...let her!!

I agree its weird...but I don't think its a battle worth choosing at this point...JMO.

i would say just let this one go...its only balloons and you can alway pop them. but if she continues to infringe then you should definitely put your foot down.

I think if this is the first and last time something like this is happening, I'd just let it go and pop the balloons when she leaves.

But if she is always doing this, I would say noooo way

IDK this is a tough one....you want to set a precedence so she does not baby him during your marriage but you dont want to cause I guess talk to FH & see what he has to say OR let her do what she wants & then when you get back, sit her down & talk to her.

My FMIL def has her moments!!! We live in an apartment in her house & whenever FH goes to work (he's FDNY) she asks me what his schedule is. This drives me crazy but when I talked to FH about it he said that she worries about him when he's at work so it helps her ease her fears when she knows when he should be home. I can understand how she might think that way but what is she going to do when we buy our house? Call me to see what his weekly work schedule is?!?!?!?!?!?

ITA. Since it's his 30th birthday...wanting to send something is not really over the top. I wouldnt make a fuss...unless it's a usual occurance.

If it bugs you, make a phone call to the hotel manager and tell her that some balloons may be arriving and to kindly hold them at the desk or dispose of them. Then tell FMIL you loved them and she will be happy.
