Planning this wedding has made me realize that FMIL and I are not as close as I thought we were. We had an incident a few months ago, that brought out a side of her I did not expect. I spoke to her about it and things have been fine with us since.
Anyhow, I really wanted to take her dress shopping with me and my mom so we could have that experience together, but we never made it because I found my dress at the second store I went to (which I did not expect because I am very very picky). But I promised that she could go to my first fitting. Anyway, she told me on Monday that she was going to go shopping for her dress with her two daughters (the groomswomen) on Wednesday because they were off from work. I mentioned to her that I was also off... but she did not even invite me. Its Wednesday now and she did not invite me I thought it would have been a great bonding experience for all of us... I think she feels that I want my mom to look better or something.. I'm not sure... but I think it stinks (since you cant say ***** on here!)

Sorry to hear! I feel you pain! FMIL and I were so close and then the claws came out when we did the guest list! I'm glad at least that part is over! When the wedding day comes, FMIL won't care what happened in the past - just that you make her son very happy!

FH does not really say much... he asked me if I wanted him to talk to his mom about it but I said absolutely not!
But you know that they never even made it shopping... as they were about to catch they highway to the mall yesterday morning, they got into a car accident! THANK GOD every one was fine, no injuries (just scared). Only the car suffered major injuries. But it was horrible, FH completely freaked out, thinking something bad had happened to them.

I'm sorry to hear about your FMIL glad to hear they're ok.
But now theres an opportunity to try again and to be able to go with them.
In regards to FMIL: Mine...meh' that lady has a habit of butting in where she's not wanted and decided to make a lot of opinions and suggestions that are the exact opposite of what i want to do expecting me to take her ideas and use all of them. Like she'll call me and ask if i did what she told me to do. . And to boot she's not even kicking in any money for this wedding, FH and I are and my parents are donating some. But not his parents at all!

i think you should just mention you'd like to be invited and you would want to go next time, maybe she doesn't know you want to go...
who knows MIL's can be weird

sorry to hear this. i know how you feel though.. i love my fmil but sometimes i get the feeling that she isn't very interested in the wedding.. i asked her a few times if she wanted to go shopping with me for her dress because i thought it would be really nice to go just me & her without fh's sisters..but she pretty much ignored the few times i asked (when i say ignored, i mean IGNORED.. she didn't respond.. just went onto a different convo).. so i think i've pretty much given up.
