FMIL went to a wedding over the weekend.

Ok FMIL went to a wedding over the weekend in CT. She said it was so beautiful. It was at a Yacht Club.
Anyway, the flowers were both low & high.
She wanted to take the high ones home...but once taken off the base there was no way to take the flowers. She said there was not a seperate dish. She left them. Is that how it is supposed to be for the ladies that did that.? What do you do with the flowers if nobody can take them home.

She also said that the couple gave the donation card as many are doing these days...but surprised to see that there was not even alittle bit of candy on table. (something)

No cake cutting, no garter or bouquet throwing.
Dinner was choice of beef or fish only.

So different then we do in NY. What do you guys think?

There was over 300 people here.

We are doing high centerpieces with two small low replicas placed to the left and right of the tall one.

Maybe they didn't want people to take them home so they could be used for an event the day after? My friend had an elaborate brunch the day after his wedding and used the same centerpieces as the night before.

I don't think that's different than a NY wedding. Many people decide not to do garter or bouquet toss.

If you are looking to do high CPs find out from your florist what can you use (if they aren't supplying) something that people can transport the flowers in.

my high centerpieces were in small bowls placed in high vases. I went to a wedding 2 weeks ago, and it was the same. I took one home from that wedding no problem, and people took them home from mine.

I have been to weddings with high and low centerpeices at NY weddings , its just a preference of style .

as far as chicken and fish, NY weddings tend to have food overload. i went to a wedding in texas and your choice is beef or beef , and a florida wedding where I had to pick what I was eating on the response card .

My florist will not let you take the vase, but the flowers you can. I never would take a centerpeice home anyway IMO , but to each their own

agree with NY weddings being food overload. A midwest wedding i went to recently had no entree choices, it was just steak and a piece of shellfish on every plate.

we got offered a centerpiece from that wedding, and the flowers were stuck in styrofoam sitting in a small plastic dish. i dont know about my own centerpieces and i dont remember if people took them home -- i did give people some flowers from our chuppah arrangement that was out on the floor.

best to ask your florist

well for ours the vases are rented from the florist, so nobody can take home the vase, although some tried lol. But pedestals sent 2 workers towards the end of our wedding and wrapped up our cp's for guests to take home. One person didnt get a whole cp, they split the flowers so more people can get it. The wrapped them up the way they would at a flower shop

I went to a wedding a couple of years ago with high centerpieces and the flowers were sitting on a shallow dish on top of a clear vase...that's actually what my high centerpieces will be like, too.

ours were floral foam with a plastic container bottom taped to it..i think. but they could be taken home.our guests did

and yeah- oos, its not always customary to offer 3 or more choice. I know of 3 ppl oos only offering 1 choice.

Usually high centerpieces are in a little plastic bowl which sits in the vase so you can remove the flowers and take them home. Personally, I do not take centerpieces home.

I am not doing a bouquet toss or garter ceremony. There are no favors or candy on the tables.

We will have a cake cutting ceremony but are serving cupcakes.

I've been to NY and OOT weddings where you were given a choice of beef, chicken or fish and have been to others where there is no choice.

It's all a matter of what the bride and groom want.
