Mine lived out of state and so probably wouldn't invite her to travel but if she's in town for any reason, I would definitely take her. She's an amazingly warm and welcoming woman and I'm so priviledged to have her as my FMIL so I wouldn't mind at all that she was there...
Me too She feels bad she lives OOS and can't help me do a whole lot but she's so great in general.

Re: FMILS
No, I just went with my mom and my sister (MOH). I'll take her to my first fitting or something. She just did her daughters wedding so she's feeling left out of things but I don't want to take things away from my mom so I didn't invite her. If you get along with yours, I would ask your mom first. She might be looking forward to finding a dress for her daughter and no one else around.

Re: FMILS
No - I went with my mom only to try dresses on. When I go back to officially order it in Jan (their 1st Sat appt!!), I'm bringing my mom, MOH and another BM.
But, I didn't want her to feel left out, so I invited her to come with us when we go bridesmaid dress shopping! So she is coming to that.

Re: FMILS
ok this situation kinda back fired in my face. I wanted FMIL ( we get along, when she isn't trying to control our lives ) to be there. She doesn't have a daughter so I know it would of meant a lot to her. So I invited her and she invited HER SIL. Whatever it was annoying but ok b/c I really like her too. So we went to one bridal salon together and we had a great day and I 'thought' I had found the dress. I said I wanted to still go shopping and needed to think about it. So the next day after we went shopping, FMIL & I were invited to the same Bridal Shower. I get there a bit late and sit down at the same table as her, w/ a bunch of MY girlfriends and find out that she told all of them that I picked out my dress I was UBER pissed!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
First off, it was not her place to tell my friends that I found my dress, it was my info to tell and secondly, I wasn't sure I was even going w/that particular dress. A few days later was my E-Party, my step-mom gets a little tipsy and tells FMIL that her and I were going to Kleinfelds to look for dresses. Well FMIL comes right up to me and says that she decided she wanted to come. So long story short she invited herself and when I actually walked out w/my dress, I turned to her and asked her to please not tell anyone I bought my dress!

Yes, she was really excited about it and came. The day I found my dress was actually the day with FMIL and FSIL.

Re: FMILS
Nope. Well, not for the American wedding dress. For the Indian one, she'll be there but I've recruited one of FH's cousins to help me out with handling her.

Re: FMILS
She came with me. My Mother did not. She thinks I should of rented my dress. My FMIL said 'you are not a used bride'. My Mom is NOT paying so she should shut the F up!
My FMIL is the best. Although she has lots of opinions and that can make me nuts, she means well. It's never in a bad way.
And I love the fact she says to all her friends 'wait until you see dfw in her dress, she looks beautiful'.
I really heart her and lucky b/c without her, I'd have no Motherly figure excited for me. She also arranged my shower
ps: she paid for my veil and shoes too!
