she's going to be showing by the time your wedding comes around...maybe you can get a different style for her? or have them order her a size larger. Pregnant girls are in bridal parties all the time, the dress place should know how to handle it, dont worry!

Yea I'm not even worried about the dress, I'm just more upset over the situation.

She is overweight, and sometimes heavier girls don't show until much later anyway, so I guess she'll have to order bigger .... I don't know.

I still can't believe this.

First, I'm so sorry that the family is going through this. This is rough time and I'm hoping that everyone can give FSIL the support she will need and I pray that she will be prepared for what awaits her. Motherhood is serious business and the fact that she has decided to step up to the unexpected challenge is admirable. IMO.

So with that said...the dresses? It's an easy fix. My SIL (brother's wife) is in my bridal party and while she hasn't said anything yet, I suspect she's preggers. She should be anywhere between 5-7 months at our wedding. I respect her right not to annouce until the 3 month mark so what I've done is change my MOH's dresses. She will now inherit one of theirs (she was a 4, the largest dress is a 12) and I'm sure we can work with it. You can order a much larger dress or order a style which is a babydoll and will give her room for her baby bump. Life happens and this is your new family....make this as comfortable for everyone as possible.

Dont worry they always have these things come up in Bridal shops, they def can work with her. Just tell the bridal shop about it right away.

Thank you. She is lucky FH has five siblings and they are a very loving and supportive family. Once the initial shock and anger wears off I know everyone will be there for her. We are there for her, just everyone is upset right now, obviously.

We are concerned bc she just doesn't have her act together. We are hoping this is a kick in the butt for her and she steps up.

Like I said, she is heavy anyway, so FH's oldest sister thinks she will be ok in the same dress. I might have her wait on ordering it a little while longer and risk having a different dye lot, o well.

Should I wait to order all of them? She is so early I am thinking, What if she miscarries? (not wishing this upon her of course)....

or just get a bigger size anyway?

im sorry that your family has to go through this but i have been here twice (yes twice) both my sisters got pregnant at 17 & 18, they are now 20 and 23 and one is pregnant now, i had them get there dresses through davids bridal because we had to wait to see how she is showing my sister is a size 0 and right now she is a size12 so you always have the route of ordering through davids since they only take a few weeks to get in. dont let a place talk you into ordering to big of a size or it will kill you in alterations and make the dress look different good luck!!

well look, I figured out pretty quickly that my FSIL was preggers WAY before she acutally told me.. she actually knew when she ordered the dress and ordered a size 6, which obviously wouldnt have fit her (being that she will be like 7 months at the wedding) .. so I was able to call the store and basically beg that they change her size.. luckily they were able to do it (we got her a size 10 - thats what she wanted) but the salesgirl told me that if they need to let out more than they sell blots of fabric that the BMs can buy to add to the dress.. so she will def fit.. Your FSIL is very young.. I think she should really think this whole situation thru .. does she know who the father is? Is he going to support her and the baby?

She refuses to do the other option. Religious and personal beliefs. We are proud of her for that. She was toying with adoption but she (or I) don't think she would be able to go through with that.

She does know who the father is, it is one of her very good guy friends. We know him and he is a great guy. He is scared and cares a lot about her as a friend but they are not in that type of relationship. He plans to try to support her and the baby as best he can without getting into a romantic role, if that makes sense. It's a sucky situation.

I guess I will have to talk to the shop and see what they say. I guess I can be glad this happened today, and not the day after she ordered her dress, as far as I'm concerned, as selfish as that sounds. I have so many things going through my head right now and what this all means for everyone and everything.

My sis will be 7 months pregnant for my wedding. THe bridal shop said they can order one size up or even the same size in a long and then just split the lining of dress to make room for the baby bump. The take the seam up so the larger part of the dress falls over her tummy and the extra length on the dress makes it so u don't have to order a HUGE dress incase she does miscarry or doesn't show much.

my SIL got pregnant after dresses were ordered - it was a surprise as well and she was 6 months at the wedding - she had to buy extra fabric and they had to add two panels to the dress....it was fine....i wouldnt worry about it.......if the dress doesnt fit when it comes in they will be able to figure it out and fix it. ...
