so i cant really complain because his mom is very sweet and nice but she is totally uninterested in the wedding. whatever- it could be worse. butttt, she still hasnt gotten a dress. come on, seriously! its 3 months to the wedding and she needs alterations for sure cuz shes under 5 feet *yeah seriously she is
anyway, its just annoying. now fh says fine, well go on Monday (his day off) but now next monday is Martin Luther King Day and i have off. sorry to sound like a brat but i really dont get a lot of days off and id like to spend the ones i do have off, doing my own thing or being with fh, not with his mom looking for a dress when this couldve been done months ago on any monday when fh was off. its not like im a help, she doesnt speak english!\

Ugh, that sounds really frustrating! I dealt with a similar thing with my mom waiting till the last minute (I finally forced her to go get one last month and it amazingly came in 2 weeks later).
Does FMIL have a daughter, sister, close niece, friend, etc who she could go shopping with alone? Maybe ask FH to encourage her to do this on her own time? If she finds something maybe you could just stop by quickly on Monday to give your opinions? I can imagine how annoying this must be and I hear you about not wanting to spend your day off doing that!

ugh im sorry. i know its frustrating....neither my mom or fmil have started dress shopping yet and its stressing me out!!!

i guess i shouldve added that she is older, in her seventies, she doesnt drive, lives in a part of Brooklyn where there are only little shops and things by her, definately no 'nice' dress shops.
fh works tuesday through saturday from 6 to 9:30 at night.
i am very very sympathetic to this believe me. i dont even mind so much the going on Monday part, i guess whats bothering more is that shes uninterested and this is one more thing on top of it. i also blame fh a lot for this. his mom doesnt know about american weddings really and what things she has to do, etc. so fh is really to blame in all this. he basically lets his mom be ignorant about these things and makes no effort to get her involved. do things, etc.

my mil is under 5 feet too. she was able to find a dress at estells and got it altered. it didnt take long. maybe your fmil doesnt want to order a dress and would rather buy one off rack?

Dont worry, FMIL just bought her dress last week ( David's Bridal), and my mother still does not have one. My wedding is in about 6 weeks. They could not find any dresses they liked my mother and I will go to the city , lord & taylors, & macys and she should find somthing I'm not worried about my mom but FMIL I was. Dont stress over it!
