Foam mattress vs. spring mattress?

I've only had spring mattresses my whole life. DH and I need to get a new mattress soon and were thinking about getting a foam one because they're soooooooo comfy.

But!

Someone mentioned to me that the foam ones might hold more body heat. I HATE being warm when I sleep. Anyone have input on this? The person who mentioned it does not have a foam mattress; I don't know anyone that does, actually. And of course they salespeople will tell me whatever I want to hear in order to make the sale.

It's true. DH had one and that's what we use now. I love it for it's comfort factor...amazing, but I'm like a furnace and wake up hot often. We have a ceiling fan and central air, so it's not so bad.

I will say that they've allegedly redesigned some more costly models to fix this. If you're getting a basic model however, you will probably feel the heat.

I'd at least ask when your shopping, because it really really is soooo comfortable! But there's also a lot of great pillow top options.
