How do I sign up for FOCCUS and take the actual test? I think I found how to do it but it says registration is $50? Is that correct?
Try contacting the church where you're getting married. I think they need to arrange it.
Are you doing this through the RVC diocese website? That site confused the heck out of me. You're better off just calling your church. We didn't have to pay for the test separately from pre cana.

We did it about a month ago and we didn't have to pay. Our Deacon gave my e-mail to the woman that runs the program for our Parish and she e-mailed me a username and password. If you completed it within 60 or 90 days of receiving the username and password it was free, and if you waited it was $15 or something. Try asking your church!
If you live near Williston Park you should go do it at St Aidans. It was such a painless process. We signed up for when we wanted to take precana and they had a date for us to come in and take the test. We actually still haven't paid for pre cana. They never asked for the money. We'll just have to give it when we pay for the wedding.
We had it completed before pre-cana, and it was $50 to do it through the Rockville Center Diocese.
That's really odd that you have to pay - as far as I know, the FOCCUS is just a test that takes about a half hour. Maybe different churches do it differently, but your parish should set that up for you before you go to pre cana.
I know! I spoke to the lady who does pre cana for our parish. She said they used to offer FOCCUS for free with pre cana, but they stopped because the diocese was charging them. So now I have to go through the DRVC and it's $50. She said other parishes might do it differently. This is at St. Pats in Smithtown.

I guess all churches are different because FOCCUS and precana is included in the church fee. FOCCUS test only took 30-45 mins. I wonder why it's different if it's the same diocese?

Yes I had to pay a $50 fee for foccus. I did it right on the RVC website. It was about 160 questions. Once you are done you pick a choice of 2 days and times to have your meeting. Then they will email you and let you know which day of the 2 you will have. Then you go to this meeting and someone talks to you about how you and your fiance differed with your questions and such. Then some things to think/talk about. Then they hand you your certificate. THey say you have to do foccus before precana but I had people in my precana class who hadn't done foccus yet. I think as long as it gets done thats all that matters.
We did it through our church too. We had to pay a $75 fee for the FOCCUS test and pre-cana though..

We paid $150 for Pre-Cana and FOCCUS was apart of that. They did everything and just emailed us a link, then we completed the test and next time we went to Pre-Cana they had all the information.
