Fondue anyone?

Original post by Suzanne

I had fondue at home this weekend ( i went to lindt chocolate store and bought a small fondue ceramic set for 6.00 and all you need is a tealight!)
I used the lindt candy bar with it and dipped strawberries and bananas...it was GREAT.. but what else can i do with fondue chocolate...

Re: Fondue anyone?

Suzanne, mine looks a lot like this, but a little bigger and I got it with the tea lights and the plates and the fondue forks

A delightful and easy-to-prepare dessert, chocolate fondue is traditionally served with various cakes or fruits, or with bread pudding. This recipe is brought to us by fondue expert Ingrid Roettele, who recommends using Belgian chocolate. Since chocolate tends to burn easily, serve the fondue in a fondue pot set over a low, cool flame, such as a lit votive candle. If you’re using an alcohol or liquid Sterno burner to heat your mixture, make sure to use a diffuser to temper the heat.

RECIPE
Chocolate Fondue
Serves 4

8 ounces semisweet chocolate, roughly chopped
1 cup heavy cream
Sliced fruit such as strawberries, grapes, kiwi, pineapple, and bananas, for serving
Pound cake, cut in 1-inch cubes, for serving

In the top of a double boiler or in a heatproof bowl set over a pan of simmering water, combine chocolate and cream. Stir occasionally until melted. Transfer to a fondue pot, and keep warm. Serve with sliced fruit and pound cake.

Re: Fondue anyone?

You could take it off the heat and put it in a pan of warm water to keep the chocolate warm.

Re: Fondue anyone?

Suzanne, is that your pre-celebration or is that the celebration for V-Day. We have a 16 yr old at home so we cannot do any private party on our bear skin rug with our fondue stuff like I would like, so I guess its a night out to dinner it is

Re: Fondue anyone?

Shamma,

Im working so many hours and days that on friday night i might not be able to hold the fondue stick let alone 'celebrate' but im gonna try damm hard!! LOL

I think we are just going to go with a carpet picknick for dinner and some fondue and a good movie..

Why not send the 16 yr old to a friends for a sleepover!!! then you can celebrate all over that rug!! LOL

Re: Fondue anyone?

Chippa, sometimes fondue is better for one! Iknow that when we made it, i was looking at the last strawberry and so was he.. i thought we were gonna have to have a sword fight with our sticks for the last berry!! LOL.. but of course in the end i gave it to him!!!

LOL ... Suzanne! you are too good .... that last strawberry would have been MINE!

Thanks for the great idea, girls ... I might have to go out & get me a set. We were looking at one in Williams Sonoma but it was $120 for the copper plated. We couldn't afford that now. Maybe another time .. but I could do $6. Sham, how much was yours from C&B .. if you don't mind.
