I'm booked at the Surf Club but am confused about what chicken choice to choose fir the main dinner. There is the chicken ciolinowhich is described as a boneless breast of chicken topped with grilled eggplant, sun-dried tomato and fresh mozarella in a brandy reduction ( I don't really like the way that sounds) and then there is the French breast of Capon with goat cheese, and sweet sausage in a black truffle sauce. The latter sounds good, but I need help choosing. Any one who's been to the surf club, HELP!!!!

normally you do a food tasting before you have to choose the menu, I would call your RH about that. It will help you choose.

You're right, thats what should have happened. I could've sworn that before I booked, I read somewhere that food tastings would be done after booking but when I called to ask them, I was told that they only sample the cocktail hour items and not the main dinner items. I was a little pissed, so now i'm worried about how the food will taste so I have to pick the right choices. and this is why i need feedback. So far, I have heard way more good that bad, so i'm keeping my fingers crossed.

I've never been to a wedding there but we did look at it as one of our choices, are you getting the viennese with the little pyrotechnic show. that was so cool!!

A friend of mine also suggested the chicken with the eggplant cos her concern was that not everyone would like truffle sauce. I think i'll go with that choice. Thanks everyone!!!

It is such a delicacy, people spend ALOT of money for truffles. Average price is $1000 a pound. But they have to add only very little bc it gives it sooo much flavor

Re: Food at the surf club in New Rochelle
I was at a wedding at the Surf Club and i am sorry to say but i wasnt impressed at all. The cocktail hour was very skimpy and the dinner tasted like it was out of a can. I have other friends who have gone to other functions there and say the food is awesome and there was alot of it so i have come to the conclusion that you pay for what you get.

Re: Food at the surf club in New Rochelle
ok here's the deal! i am a surf club bride to be. and you could definatly get a food tasting. you will have to go on a saturday because they will give you food from whatever party they are doing. you definatly get more then cocktail stuff. I had cockatail food, 3 pastas, and 2 dinner entrees to taste. i didnt taste the chiken dishes that you mentioned but the first sounds delicious. I have eaten their marsala sauce and i thought it was very good. who are you working with? im working with chris. fm me if you have any questions. i have had a great experience there thus far. happy to see another surf club bride!!! also it is very early to be picking out your menu. they will work with you though you could substitute the chiken that they are offering with a chicken dish you like, marsala for example. they mentioned they would make anything so ask them. which menu are you getting? each one is a little different and each offers a different amount of food.

Re: Food at the surf club in New Rochelle
Finally another Surf Club Bride!!! You're right, it is too early to be picking my menu but I did give my BM, Jaime, the choices from the opal menu that I wanted for the cocktail hour, but not from the sit down dinner. I think what i'll do is ask him to give me other chicken choices so that I can choose. I actually called him the other day to ask him to make an exception for me so I could taste the entrees since i'll be tasting the pastas and appetizers at the bridal expo this wednesday but he said no...maybe I should go behind his back and call chris to arrange a food tasting. What menu are you getting by the way?

Re: Food at the surf club in New Rochelle
I really can't understand why he would say no. Call and ask for Chris, tell him you are booked for a wedding there on such and such a date and you would liek to come in for a food tasting. Tell him whatever party it is over a weekend sometime soon you could come by and sample something that they are having. And i would tell him that Jamie told you know but that you booked that there is no reason why you can't taste the food. I'm sure Chris will accomodate you, if he doesn't i will be very suprised. tell them that you understand you cant taste everythign on the menu. basically they will give you whatever the party that day is eating. I don't see why they would deny the request. CALL CHRIS. and im very suprised at Jamie Yo could even email chris [email protected]. good luck! let me know the outcome! oh and im haveing the emerald menu, i think u asked me that. any questions email me. expo is this wed? damn it cant make it last day of classes. maybe next one. they dont give you much at the expo. ill be honest i wasnt impressed at all at the expo and i had already booked them the food tasting is better. their pastas are good though at the expo! eat before though lol. they dont give much. but at least ull meet the florists thats why i think ill go again.
