My DH and I are planning a large party in April. We are having trouble seeing all of our friends, so we decided to have a bash before I get too uncomfortable to entertain.
Well, he invited his entire branch (he works at a bank) and we invited all our friends...we are figuring approx. 30-50 people.
What should I serve for food? It's going to be an evening party on a Saturday night. I also dont want to stress myself out making a ton of food either...I think I'll buy most of it. Here's what I have so far...
What do you think? Is this too casual? Should I have more elegant choices since co-workers may come?
Any opinions are appreciated!

I would think you would need a hero a lot bigger than 3 foot

Re: Food Ideas for Party
most definitely get a 6 footer instead. I ordered 2 six foot heroes for a party I threw for about 60 people...had a little left over, but not much...

Re: Food Ideas for Party
the place where you order from can tell you how many it feeds...I think its like 3-4 people per foot...or something like that.

Re: Food Ideas for Party
I think your menu so far is good. Some other easy foods to prepare are stuffed mushrooms, mini crab cakes. You could pick up a box of hot hor'derves from Costco or Sams. Maybe pick up a stromboli bread from your local Italian store.

I would add a bunch more appetizers. As for the hero, I agree with everyone else- definately need more. For superbowl my parents always order 1 6 foot hero that is 1/2 American, 1/2 Italian, and a 6 foot hero that is different- usually something like grilled chicken with fresh mozz, tomatoe...something like that.
I would also do a big salad- or maybe 2 depending on how many people are coming. Maybe one regular salad and one caesar. Maybe a tray of baked ziti also? Stuff that is easy to walk around with and eat, unless you're renting tables?

I agree with this and guacamole! You have to have the ****! But I usually get too much food for parties anyway.

lol - apparently 'm o l e' is a bad word around here...
I'd make a tray of baked ziti. It's always a crowd favorite, and VERY easy to make.

Re: Food Ideas for Party
maybe you could have a veggie platter and a cheese platter---people always pick at them. very easy to make, or you could just go to costco- they have them prepared and they're cheap.

Re: Food Ideas for Party
I am throwing a surprise bday party for my husband on Saturday night. I am expecting about 50 and wanted to keep it laid-back (like my DH). This is the menu:
Cold Taco Salad (sooo yummy) Baked Macaroni & Cheese 4 foot hero: American style 4 foot here: Chicken cutlet with melted mozzarella and bacon Buffolo wings Swedish meatballs Rigatoni with grilled chicken, sundried tomatoes, and spinach in a garlic broth Stuffed flanked steak Sushi
When everyone comes I will have peanuts, chips, & dips on the table. It is a total smorgasborg of food, but I think there will be something for everyone.
