The teacher who teaches next door to me on Saturdays and I decided to get lunch for the kids tomorrow. He is bringing drinks and paper goods and I am getting food. What is something cheap that will feed 20 kids with no reheating? I could order pizza but $$$$

Re: Food question
Depending on budget... you could go to a local deli and see how much a tray of chicken fingers cost? Just an idea?
ETS: Just realized you need it tomorrow.....umm is it afternoon or morning. Because bagels could be inexpensive.
ETS: You said lunch (STOP DRINKING AMANDA!!!!!!!!) Um....I think Pizza is your bet bet. If you call when they open, and tell them it's for students they might discount you.

Re: Food question
Why not just go to a deli and get a tray of cold cuts and a couple loafs of bread? It shouldnt be TOO expensive! HTH!
Very nice idea of you guys BTW...

Re: Food question
we should expect 20..it could be less depending on the weather. And when I say 'kids' I mean 17-18 year olds.

Re: Food question
i think bagels with butter, cream cheese, cold cuts and salads would be good... lots of bagel stores give discounts if you buy a large amount of bagels.. or they throw in salads and/or cream cheese.

Yeah, they all love munchkins but we wanted to serve them lunch after ending class a little early (since our supervisor went to Canada for the weekend )

I think 08bride has the ticket! I know the bagel place by me always gives student activities (even small ones) a discount. And who doesn't like bagels!!!

Queens pizzas are what $8 a pie? If I get everyone 2 slices that's 5 pies..so $40 plus tip?

Re: Food question
i think pizza would be pretty .. at least by me a pie can be over $10.. and that really will only feed maybe 4 people.. $10 worth of bagels and stuff would feed more people. im eating pizza right now, youre all lucky... otherwise i'd be pretty P.O.'d that you were all making me want pizza.. lol

Yeah, I could go ghetto and get the cold cuts that come in the ziploc bags which are like $3 plus $15 for 2 dozen bagels and I have butter and cream cheese here.

well if you get sandwiches though, each one will be about $3-4 each so lets say its $3 each which many places charge more then that will be $60...im just thinking pizza bc its usually less than 2 dollars each. OR you can get two huge trays from an italian restaurant maybe a thing of baked ziti and another of chicken franchese but then again that would come out almost the same as the pizza
other than that maybe a bunch of bagels with cream cheese, jelly, croissants, muffins but you said you wanted something a bit different.
i honestly don't know what would come out cheaper...UNLESS you go to the supermarket and make something yourself but again can add up to $40 or even more

Right now I am cursing that he jumped on the sodas...I'm going to run to the store now and get some 'cheap' cold cuts and then hit the bagel store in the morning. That way they can also take extra home if they want; you can't really carry slices down the street.
Thanks for all of your help ladies...they better do all of their work tomorrow.

Re: Food question
The bagels sound like a really good idea actually! Cold cuts can be expensive though, depending on how you purchase them (separate or a platter).. So if you were going to do cold cuts it might be the same if not more then the pizza... Especially for 20 17-18 year olds... Id stick with bagels and donuts... Cheaper and more filling
