food tasting

one thing I think is so dumb about most RH...and I know they need to save money....is that they only offer their tasting when you book....Why would I want to find out I didn't like the food until 6 weeks before the wedding.. haha I am sure most places have out of this world food,,,but what if they dont...annoying.

O yea... i did remember that but they said if we brought anyone else but ourselves it would be $90 per person...I mean i see the sense in making that rule otherwise people might just come out all the time...but I mean if yu are seriously looking at a place I think you should be able to taste the food..I do not even like food that much...haha but I know people coming will.

i know one place i went to said that if i wanted to taste the food i would have to pay... i dont remember how much, but if i ended up booking with them that money would go towards the hall...

It all depends on the Rh. Some will give you one before you book well others will not.

Re: food tasting

my RH does food tastings only when there is a wedding going on. They want you to taste what the food tastes like when the chef is making it for a large number of people.. so as soon as you book, they schedule you in for the first available wedding for a tasting and you can bring 4 people with you and fh and if you dont like the food, then they rip up the contract.

We had our tasting before we booked for free and all of our parents came, we didnt want to book anything unless we tasted their food. Alot of places didn't offer that though

I could have tasted the food before I booked with Leonard's but I decided to go after I booked. If I didn't like the food he would have cancelled my contract. I was able to try the cocktail hour food that was set-up for a wedding. I was able to bring whoever I wanted. They even served alcoholic beverages

Chateau La Mer has an incredible tasting and you can bring up to six guests with you. It doesn't cost a thing.

We just had our tasting, the way our place does it, you do your tasting early, and if you don't like their food or service, you get your money back. Later on you set your menu.

alot of halls wont give out food tastings without a deposit or some sort of commitment...personally I thinks thats crap...Are they scared that you wont book once you taste the food lol....At the inn they actually let us eat at their restaurant before we booked,,,

That really stinks! WM gives you a tasting in their restaurant and you get to pick from off the real menu.... it was the best meal I've ever eaten!

Meanwhile, I recently thought to myself - should I be taking advantage of all these great free meals that are offered to us as potential RH clients? I know some RHs have really yummy food - should we all be scamming more free tastings out of places?

HAHAHA I was thinking that to. Should I go to a lot of tastings for free meals lol. I know people who did this, after they booked.

I totally agree. I guess that the competition is more amongst the brides booking first, because it seems no matter what these places book up.

I feel like if I were one of the sales people when I had an appointment I would make sure I had like a appetizer sampler plate or something! Pretend to amuse me!

and they pressure you to book so fast! I am an out of town bride so I tried to look at all places on one saturday. That following week (20 months before I wanted to get married) they all called saying that May was just about full and I had to send in a deposit that week.

I would have LOVED to taste the food.

Luckily, at the Woodlands, you can go to the restuarant, The Mansion and taste the food from the same chef. Not the exact same stuff as on the wedding menu choices but you can get an idea of the chef's tastes. My mom had gone the week before and could not stop talking about how great it was.
