no cash, all checks

eta: i totally lied! The guests who put their cards in the card box were all checks but I forgot that my parent's guests gave their cards directly to my parents and they were all cash. I think it might be a korean thing.

I guess for us it was like 70% checks and 30% cash. I remember being surprised as to how much cash we got.

ours was split - checks from family & family friends (older), cash from our friends (younger)

about 70% cash and 30% checks.
and some of those cheks gave us so many problems!
UGH!!! TD Bank would not deposit any of our checks because people would put 'Mr. & Mrs. Randazzo' and technically, i hadn't legally changed my last name yet so even though DH name was on the account, they refused to cash the checks! UNREAL! I had to go to 3 different TD Branches before someone would cash the checks.
People think its cute that they put your new naames on there but don't realize what a problem this could turn into to deposit!

I got about 60% cash 40% checks. I did receive 3 checks that were made out to 'Bride and Groom' and we couldn't deposit those because our names weren't on them. We lost $550 because of that

Did you tell the people who gave you the checks? I sure regardless they're waiting for the check to clear so you could inform them.

Also, you can just write a hyphen an scribble in your names.

I heard TD bank is the worst when it comes to cashing checks for newlyweds. Citibank was easy. It didn't matter what was written on the check.

It's a long story with those particular guests (friends from HS who never have money, and have other major issues). They're the type of people who will ask you out to dinner and have you pay the bill kind of people, but good friends nonetheless.

Anyways, we're have Chase (for now) and those checks were the only ones that wouldn't deposit.

Had no issues with the 'Mr & Mrs' checks with Chase. We deposited in the ATM.

This was the same for me...

however after my MOH's card went missing because she left it on a table, I will never leave cash in a card, just in case
