we got a mixture of both and the most checks were made out to cash also

i would say 70/30 mostly checks. We also got a fair amount of actual gifts from our registry from my hubbys family from the midwest where its more common than giving money as a wedding gift.

Mostly checks, very few people gave cash

Same here. We went today to deposit them in Chase and it was no problem. We also had to add my name to DH's accounts and told them that I would be changing my name, but I hadn't done so legally, yet. They had no problem adding my name the way it will be after I change it legally - I was really surprised by that

Good mix of both!

We didn't open our cards until the Monday night after our wedding. We were too exhausted.

And we never got gifts from one couple and one friend!
