Athens the city is the place to be to see all the the archaeological and architectural remains, Acropolis, Delphi etc etc. I suggest to stay in the heart of athens where the hotels have roofs where you can see the whole city, its pretty amazing. Then off to the islands. The port of Piraea have ferries to the Aegean islands frequently daily. Places to be Santorini, Mykonos, Rhodos, Crete.

Places to be on the Ionian side, Kefalonia, Zakyinthos and Kerkyra. Ferries leave out of Patra and Kilini.

You can research hotels online for pics, prices, grades etc.

I can not wait to go to Greece this summer!

Wow, thanks for all of that!

Do you have a travel agent that you could recommend for this?

Crown Peters and Homeric Tours are both in Astoria and I've used them both for lots of trips to Greece.

You may also want to do a cruise around the islands...cheaper and eaiser way to experience a lot of islands in a short amount of time. For example, it would take you at least 1 week (most probably 2 weeks ) just to see all of Crete!

If you want a couple of not-so-touristy places, FM me...I've spent a lot of summer vacations in Greece visiting family and island-hopping, but I've also been doing archeological fieldwork in Greece since 1994, so I can recommend some nice places with great beaches & day trip areas, and decent nightlife but without the massive number of tourists.
