I just went to Disney in May. You have to try one of the African restaurants in the Animal Kingdom lodge. FH and I ate at Boma which is an African buffet. I know, African food sounds scary, but FH is so picky and he loved it too. Jiko is the same cuisine, but it's a sit down restaurant. It's supposed to be one of the 10 best restaurants in the country.

We are also going to Disney. We booked the castle dinner with cinderella, the Hop-De-Do Review, The Polynesian Luau, The corel Reef (in Epcot), Le Celier (in Epcot) Fultons Crab House (Downtown Disney), 50's Primetime Cafe.....I think that is it. I dont have my agenda in front of me. I will check later and edit the post if I forgot anything.

We are doing Disney too. I hear that Victorias and Alberts at the Grand Floridian is to die for - if you like sophiscated menus. THe chef's table dinner there is also great (and expensive) - you dine at a table by the kitchen and have a multi course meal with wine tastings based on your preferences. They have one sitting at a time. Very Romantic, in fact many proposals happen there - they say one per week on a special I saw on the Food Network! We won't be doing this because FH is so picky. If the place has a hamburger or steak on the menu - it's OK. LOL. Narcossee's is also great at the GF I have heard. I have also heard thate The Brown Derby is great at MGM.

We have meals booked at The Royal Table, Le cellier, Chef Mickey's (breakfast), The Sci Fi at MGM, and the hoop de due revue. We are also going to Cirque de Soliel and I can't wait for this.

Fulton's crab house is also wonderful if you are into seafood.
The Disney website has a comprehensive listing of their resturaunts. Also - the DIS discussion borads have good references. Just Google - DIS Boards
.

I HIGHLY recommend Narcoossee's! We ate there a couple of weeks ago and the food is outstanding! It's located in the waterfront pavillion in the Grand Floridian. Check Disney's site for more info...

I also HIGHLY recommend getting the almond encrusted cheesecake for dessert! I'm considering calling them to see if they'll FedEx it up to me!

We just got back...if you are looking for romantic, the San Angel Inn at the Mexican section of Epcot is it. Alfredo's of Rome in Italy is also very romantic, but a little more expensive. FM me for more info.

Re: for all those honeymooning in disney...

I am a Disney World ADDICT! I was there three times last year, so I hope I can help out you guys with your questions!

To book dining, call 1-407-WDW-DINE. Cinderella meals you have to call at 7:00 a.m. exactly 90 days before the day you want to book the meal. No joke, it books up that fast.

Some great restaurants are 'Ohana at the Polynesian, Bistro de Paris in France in Epcot, Le Cellier steakhouse in Canada at Epcot. If you want something fun, FH and I LOVE 50's Prime Time Cafe and Sci-Fi Dine-In Theater at MGM. They're kind of cheesy in a fun way and have great comfort food! Bistro de Paris was beautiful and romantic.

A great website to check out is allearsnet.com. FULL of great info!!!

Feel free to FM me if you have questions! Hope this helps! Everyone enjoy their honeymoons!

Disney's Beach Club Villas... but I realized I would rather have the ambiance of the GF than a kitchen and living room and whirlpool tub (which is small anyway at the villas). The Villas will be nice with a family in the future, but the GFis 'honeymoon special!'

(and hopefully they'll upgrade us! We just have to put those ears on!!!)

Thanks for all your help and advice!!!!!!!

Re: for all those honeymooning in disney...

We're going to Disney for FH's birthday in 2 weeks. I've made reservations at Narcoosee's for his birthday and was told that we can see fireworks from there.
We're staying at the Animal Kingdom, how close is that to everything? We can still take the monorail, right?
We booked a while ago and now I see there are some new tickets available. We got the Park Hopper tickets and the meal plan. Are there other options I should go with instead? Which parks CANT I go to with the park hopper?
I'm heading to our travel agent this week, but you girls seem pretty knowledgeable.

The monorail only connects the Magic Kingdom, the Contemporary, the transportation & ticket center, the Polynesian, the Gradn Floridian, & Epcot. To get from the AK to anywhere, you'll need to take the bus, car, or taxi.

Really??? I wish my TA woulda mentioned that.... I wonder if we should change hotels. Is it that much of an inconvenience?

I changed hotels from the Beach Club Villas to the Grand Floridian... and one of the reasons is the convenience of the monorail.

I wouldnt sweat it.. the buses are REALLY nice and run very frequently.... more frequently than the monorail sometimes! Plus, if you stay at one of the monorail resorts, you STILL need to take the buses to Animal Kingdom and MGM. So 6 of one, half a dozen of the other!
ginny26 Posted:

Re: for all those honeymooning in disney...

It's just my opinion, but I find the buses to be a pain...(maybe I'm just a lil impatient!! We always stay at either the Polynesian or the Boardwalk...even though it doesn't take a REALLY long time to get from one place to another from the AK, it's probably the most 'out of the way' on the Disney property. Personally, we like being on the beach (even if its a man made beach!) and/or having monorail or walking access to the parks (i.e. Polynesian is on the monorail line; you can walk to the MGM studios and Epcot from the Boardwalk and the Yacht & Beach Club & Swan/Dolphin hotels). Hope this helps!!

Re: for all those honeymooning in disney...

I've also been to Disney several times and love it! I agree with many of the suggestions already given. Narcoosees was awesome. You get a great view of the fireworks and some show in the lagoon that I forget the name of. I've never been to Victoria and Albert's but it is supposed to be the best restaurant in Disney! Ohana in the Polynesian was great too. Again, there is a great view of the fireworks. Ask for a table near the window. I've only eaten breakfast in Cinderella's castle. It is amazing and my favorite thing to do in Disney! YOu do have to call by 7:00 am exactly ninety days before you want to go because it really does book up in minutes. Believe me, it is worth getting up early to do. There is a restaurant on the top floor of the Contemporary that I've also never eaten at, but it is supposed to be amazing. I forget the name of it. We checked out the menu and it is mostly seafood and I don't eat seafood. I also recommend Chef Mickey's for a character breakfast. THere are tons of kids there, but adults too. It is fun. At MGM I also heard THe Brown Derby is good. I've eaten at Mama Melrose's twice and thought it was good. When you go to MGM you have to see Fantasmic. I am not really a show person, but this show is awesome. THey have some kind of deal that if you book dinner at either Mama Melroses, The Brown Derby, or another restaurant you can go into Fantasmik without waiting in line. THe Birnbaum book gives you details on this. IT is worth doing, bc people get to the show over an hour before.

Hope this helps!

Re: for all those honeymooning in disney... (edit, repost, i have many more questions!!)

okay girls, thank you for all your suggestions so far... i checked out a lot of this stuff and now have a few more questions...

fulton's crab house looks good; its in downtown disney, right? do you suggest doing the whole downtown disney thing at the beginning or at the end of the trip (to pick up souvenirs that we didn't already get at the parks)? also, are reservations needed for fulton's?
the brown derby and the 50's primetime cafe both look good in mgm... again, reservations?
does anyone else have the hopper pass? or has had it? if we have a 3 day hopper pass, does that mean 3 consecutive days? or is it just 3 days altogether?
i know i could call my TA, but you girls seem to know so much!
i'm trying to figure out our itinerary and it's tough because FH just wants me to take care of it all, but he's a REALLY picky eater (he would hate the food at hoop de due review which makes me ) so i am trying to pick restuarants that we'll both like. i already booked cindarella's royal table for the wed nite we are there.
there's just so much to do! it's overwhelming. also, i can't find when the fireworks shows are when we'll be there... anyone know?
TIA!!!
