For all those law students/lawyers...

I noticed that there are a lot of law student and lawyer brides on the boards...

Just wondering what field of law everyone is practicing or is planning to practice...

I guess I'll start...I'm probably going to be doing intellectual property...more so patent law oriented...

I worked for 4 years in the NYC Office of the Corporation Counsel's office doing munnicipal defense in the Adminstrative Law Division.

Now, I am an atty in a mid-size firm in NJ also doing munnicipal defense (anywhere from civil rights cases to slip and falls) but primarily employment litgation (we represent employers in sexual harassment/age/race/gender discrimination).

Good luck with intellectual property - that's a hard field but pays very well!!!

I'm going to be working in a small firm in Manhattan that handles divorces, pre/post nups, child custody, real estate, wills, and some employment discrimination.

I wanted to do IP (trademark really) and still do but the market is very bad, work at an insurance company now which is not what I want to do but it's good $ and no billables (huge plus) and good hours. It does really **** though that I can't do what I went to law school to do, after all that time and $. I would not have went if given a second chance.

I didnt realize there were so many. I am in personal injury. and it is boring. I used to do criminal defense for public defender.
I need to find a new field. the PI field isnt what it used to and my firm is getting like prison. they disconnected me from the internet and i have to work really long hours. blah, blah - sorry its a bad couple of days for me in the field of law.
GOOD LUCK to you girls looking into the intellectual field - that is hard. and the other fields. i may have to explore.
