I would go...and buy something for her that's a little biting- like a nutcracker or knives or something...a nice gift to show you have class but can be a little 'tounge-in-cheek' too...or you could always be a real dillhole and give her something like this....which is probably what I would do...
OK, I was sort of in your situation this past spring although it wasn't a pissed off cousin, it was very good friends who called off the wedding and then decided to go thru with it anyway.
I'd go, because it's the right thing to do and the last thing you want to do is look like the biatch.
I wouldn't spend more than $75-$100 on the shower gift. Get something nice off the registry or go in on a gift with FMIL or someone else to maybe cut costs.
YES! You go to the wedding... again, it's the right thing to do esp. because it's family. And you don't want anyone to be able to hold anything against you come your wedding day or ever and if you don't go, that's a lot of ammo that they have against you.
ok so im def going to the wedding..fh told me i had to also..and i get to wear a pretty gown so im fine with getting dolled up.
but he is layin out the money for the gift for the wedidng. i refuse to. i kno its mean but i have one of my best friends gettin married the same month..those who truly love eachother..and i said im payin for that gift...u pay for theirs..and we split the other wedding we have.

I personally would have a hard time too....especially since she had a friggin attitude when you guys got engaged! Whatever...be nice for your cousin's sake and hope they have an open bar!!!

yeah i know stuff like that is really hard when you know the people are being fake
as you know - i dealt ( am still dealing with) something similar with FH's family
the way i see it though, is that his family can NEVER say anything about me. Even though FH works so much - I am at every single family event that I can make it to. I am at every BBQ, birthday party, wake and funeral - NO ONE can ever have a single word to say about me and that is VERY important to me!

i can relate to FH never seeing his family - i would say that I see his family about three times as much as he does. . . it is crazy and they totally DON'T realize that MOST girls would NOT do that!
And you are right, it is so easy for me to see them because a lot of his family lives in HB/OP so, even if they are going to visit family far away I can just hop in the car with them -so a lot has to do with convenience.
I think you can totally get to this point!!! If it something that you really want to do then you can eventually get there as you get more comfortable with them PLUS once babies come along it will get a lot easier too!
FMIL raised me, I will never admit it to her but she raised me to be a part of their family and follow THEIR traditions from the time i was 15 so it just gets easier with time!
as for the whole doomed marriage is - feel free to FM with frustrations at any time
I was just looking through all pictures for our slideshow and guess who is in like a million more pictures than me even though she was there for like three years less and snuck in the back way!
