Love it! I'm also incorporating a few Irish waltzes/songs in the mix...its fun music that I grew up with so I'm okay with that. FH's family will have to adapt

Irish will definitely be a huge part of our wedding. Possibly walking in to Shipping up to Boston, and one of our favorite bands are the Saw Doctors.

What about having some Irish music playing during dinner?

Dexy's midnight runner's 'Come on Eileen' pops to mind...as does U2..

Traditional music may be way mom is mentioning like (The Irish Rover, Black Velvet Band, Galway shawl etc...)

We should make an 'official irish brides marrying italian grooms' thread seems to be a few of us on here.

I don't think we'll be incorporating any irish songs... unless I'm surprised and they bring in my old dance school for a performance OR they make me dance.
I wanted to do siege of ennis... but my mother and I are the only two that would actually know how to do it.

but for irish related songs- shipping up to boston by drop kick murphys. its an irish jig.

I'm thinking of possibly doing the gay gordon.. but i'm iffy.. its a waltz, and i know we're having some italian waltz's so I want to be fair to my heritage... but again, my mother and I are the only two who know the steps.

and to add... eileen ivers 'crossing the bridge' or 'electric blue' albums.. its irish music with a twist. and loreena mckennits mummers dance is a GORGEOUS song (my students have used it to dance to) you could play that during dinner.

If anyone is interested I teach Irish Dance and could teach your bridal party some set dances.

Love Galway Girl. And defo having the siege of ennis. I don't really care if FML don't know it, I grew up with it.

My FH family is pseudo irish and i'm OTB irish, so yes there will be two sets of Irish music (2-3 songs/per set) and Irish music during dinner (no Frank Sinatra, etc.)
Btw - this was the compromise with my mom who wanted an Irish band, like Tommy Flynn & the New York Showband, and I wanted a DJ.
