For anyone for booked a venue 'non-preferred' band/DJ

...did you communicate with your venue prior to booking them? Basically, are there any questions (other than insurance) that I should be asking my venue about bringing in a band that has not worked there before? Is there anything I should know? Random question lol

I booked an outside band but they are very familiar with my venue. I only asked the venue about outside vendors and they said they need the certificate of insurance.

Some bands have certain space requirements. I was looking at a different venue at the time, and the space seemed so small for a band. If I had booked there, I would have wanted to measure it to make sure whatever band we booked knew about it.
