Are you seeing your FH before your ceremony? I didn't want to because of the whole 'first time seeing each other walking down the aisle' ...but then everyone says it's good too becyase you get to go the cocktail hour. What is everyone else doing? Since we're getting married at the hall there is no down time for pics between ceremony and CH.

We're taking pictures before the ceremony. We have the same issue.....we're getting married there & we DO NOT want to miss any of the cocktail hour.

We are seeing each other before. Our Ceremony does not start until 7:00pm, so we are taking pictures before during the day. We will have a special moment where we see each other for the first time alone though.
We don't want to miss a second of that day!

Same here!! At first I was against seeing each other before but when I really thought about it...It's best to see each other before. We will still have that 'moment' when we see each other for the first time. HTH

We are! My photographer prefersit that wayso we don't have to rush with pictures... and they usually set it up so you still have a special moment of when he sees u for the first time...like maybe he waits with his back toward you or something...and it makes for nice pics. Aaaand you get to enjoy some time alone which could be really sweet and romantic!
Besides...I think when he sees you walking downt he aisle it will still be really special

We are going to take pics before hand - I actually like the thought of his seeing me for the first time with a smaller audience (BP, parents, photog) - it will be a little more intimate. And FH definitely does not want to miss CH!!!

We're seeng each other before to take pics. We'd see each other before the ceremony anyway - we're Jewish and are doing a Ketubah signing - so it's not a big deal.

i am still debating. we want to eat during cocktail hour but we don't necessarily want to be there with everyone else becuz fh wants big bang entrance at reception
kinda like idea of waiting for walk down aisle for first time but know before hand will be special too. cant decide. photographer recommends before hand too...

We're seeing each other before hand because we want to enjoy our CH, we want to take time with our pictures and most important to me I want to spend as much time with FH as possible on our wedding day. If I wait until the ceremony then I don't get to see him until 7:30pm!
I also want to have that 'first time seeing each other' in slightly more private moment, not in front of everyone!

We didn't care about missing the cocktail hour. I wanted the first time he saw me to be walking down the aisle. It’s 6 months later and my DH will occasionally tell me “I still can’t get that image of you walking down the aisle out of my head, you took my breath away…” I think it was a bigger impact than if I just walked into a private room with just him and the photographer. As for the cocktail hour, it's just food & the only person I cared about seeing right after the ceremony was my new husband. We took all our family & BP pics and a few of just us during the cocktail hour and then had about 10 minutes to enjoy each other alone and kind of ‘brace ourselves’ in the bridal suite because we knew the rest of the day was going to be a whirlwind. Then we made our 'grand entrance' into the reception.
ETA: Our reception ended at 5 and we took more 'just us' pictures afterward.

Our Ceremony doesnt start til 7pm. I really dont see how there's any other way to take pics and have daylight and go to Old Westbury Gardens. Yea it sucksss that he wont see me for the first time walk down the aisle, but i want an evening wedding and i want to have my ceremony there. so thats that i guess

We are taking pics before the ceremony at OWG, and are really excited to use their beautiful grounds in addition to the ones at our hall. I think the rest of the day leading up to the ceremony will be less nerve-racking because of it. And we'll have tons of time for pics, and get to attend our cocktail hour too!

Yes, we're going to do pictures first. I want to enjoy the cocktail hour, and he'll still be surprised when he sees me. Besides, I've read on the Knot that a lot of brides were happy they did it that way, because they were able to have a few minutes along with their FH at that first moment, it wasn't in the middle of everyone. I like that idea.

We are having our pics taken before the ceremony. I just don't want to have to deal with taking pictures right after our ceremony. We just want to relax and enjoy ourselves for the rest of the night! We're not really worried about the tradition of him seeing me for the first time when I walk down the aisle. We'll try to work it out with our photographer so we get pics of him seeing me for the first time in the garden or something like that.
