For anyone who HAD/WILL HAVE DJ photo screens..

For anyone who HAD/WILL HAVE DJ photo screens..

My DJ now offers the photo screens and I was able to talk my FH into having them (YAY ). Originally, I wanted to have the BP walk in, THEN have the montage THEN FH and I would be intoduced. He is concerned that if BP is announced and everyone is hyped up, then we slow it down for the photos it will kill the mood. He has a point.QUESTION Is it better to have the montage BEFORE the BP is announced or is it OK to have it after the BP is announced but BEFORE we are announced? Anyone that has had it or will have it PLEASE HELP Thanks so much!!

My girlfriend did the screens after the BP was announced, but before they were announced. We plan on doing the same thing. I thought if anything the photos upped the mood - people were all excited to see their baby pictures and their shots as a couple.

Good Luck!!!

I think doing it after you are announced would give you the opportunity to watch everyone's reactions and be a part of the experience.

I had the BP introduced and then they did the photos with music before Keith and I walked in. It was so cool because we could hear everyone while we were standing outside waiting be announced, then the last pic they had up was a digital pic they took of us all dressed a fewminutes earlier.. so you saw baby pics, pics of us throughout the 7 years we were dating and then a still frame of us all dressed at the wedding. Everyone thought it was great they are still commenting on it.

Thanks girls!!! Karen32 and Heathera what kind of music did you/will you use? Was it slow or fast and upbeat or a mixture? Heathera - that's exactly how I want it. I would rather it be after the BP was introduced but I wasn't sure how it would go.

Marcela1654 - Not quite sure how I did it..He kind of just said - OK but I'm not happy about it (with a smile on his face). - He tries to get me to do things for him now (like take out the dog, etc) but it doesn't work. He just thinks it's 'gay' to have it......MEN

Oh, one more question....how many pics did you have?? I don't want to put too many but it's so hard to decide...

Betty: Peter said the exact same thing about it. I think it's because he's never seen it done and doesn't realize that it's NOT cheesy!
We'll see what happens when we start looking at DJ companies.

These Djs charge alot for this, does anyone know if this would be something you could do on your own.

My DJ is High Energy Entertainment. I know Dancejock has it too as well as some other DJs(not sure of names).
Marcela1654- Just keep working on Peter....Eventually he may crack. Ken was very set on NO SCREENS (he is not that stern on ANYTHING) but he cracked!!!!

Hi Betty,

We're using Edwin McCann's 'I Could Not Ask for More'. I think we have to pick 8 photos each growing up, 8 as a couple, and they'll take our photo once we get to the hall.

We're using Dancejock and it's an extra $500 - but it also includes an extra man with a digital camera - he'll take pictures during the reception and they'll show on the screen.

Good Luck!!

Tarakinspa..what do you consider a lot. I actually thought it would be a lot more than it was. I don't know if you could do it on your own. You would have to rent the big screens and somehow make the montage to show (I am soooo not mechanically inclined so I could never do it myslef).

Honestly, I think it would cost more to try and do it yourself. Renting big screens is probably pretty pricey - I'm not even sure mechancially how it works - getting the pics on the screen.

Karen32 - Yes, mine is around the same price. (I have to talk to him again because I am changing the way they normally do it) Actually, what they REALLY do is 100 pictures (about 10-15 min) during dinner. That is not really what I wanted. I would rather do it the way we said. Do you think like 35 (10 FH-10ME-15 as a couple) would be too much? They also have a guy that walks around w/ digital camera for I think $100 extra.

I thought it was like $750, that to me is alot.

I do have an old projector i thought maybe I could just have it set to repeat the wheel of slides over and over in the backround during the reception.

Re: For anyone who HAD/WILL HAVE DJ photo screens..

I think 35 pics would be okay. I guess it depends on the length of the song.

I really like when the pics are also taken during the reception. A lot of the guest got a kick out of seeing themselves on the big screens. I just think it's a nice way to personalize your wedding.

FI wasn't into the screens originally either. He came around once I showed him my girlfriend's video.

Good Luck!!!

Re: For anyone who HAD/WILL HAVE DJ photo screens..

Tarakinspa - I'm not saying it's not a lot because that was the biggest issue between me and FH the extra cost. Well, we found (thanks to MarcellaBella) an inexpensive videographer ($500 cheaper than an average videogrpher) so I think we will use him and make the difference up with the screens

Karen32 - That was a great song to use. I want to use slow songs too because it makes it more emotional but does that take away from the excitement after the BP is announced??

Re: For anyone who HAD/WILL HAVE DJ photo screens..

Funny you should ask that Betty. FI are currently debating the music that the BP should walk into. FI has his heart set on us walking into the Imperial March from Star Wars. He wants to use the main Star Wars theme for the BP. I don't think it's going to sound right with Star Wars - Slow, Romantic Song - More Star Wars. I'm trying to convince him to have the BP walk in with a more traditional party song.
