My FH and I have been talking about when we'll start TTC and it got me to thinking about my son and whether I can actually love another child the way I love him.
We have SUCH a special bond and I feel like there's no way I can love anyone like I love him and it worries me a bit.
Does anyone else feel like this, and for those of you with more than 1 child, was it difficult to love the 2nd as much as you do the 1st???

Yes, I understand it. But, being from a family w/ 6 kids I can tell you. Yes, you can love more then 1.
But, I do understand it's been you & your son for quite some time! It's something that you & your son can discuss.

Every single friend I have has expressed those exact feelings to me and when the second child was born they loved them too. I think your bond with each child you have is different, never the same exact relationship. And that doesn't mean less love goes to one child or the other. What you are feeling is very, very natural.

Each child is different and each child is your favorite but in a different way. When you see your son interact with his new brother or sister, you will love them both even more!

Im glad Im not the only one that feels that way. I feel like I devote so much love and time to my daughter now I dont know how I can love another... BUT if they are as wonderful as Emma is now there should be plenty of love to go around.

I have to agree with the majority here. Im SURE you will find another big COMFY PLACE in your heart for another!
Although I ADORE my son to pieces, I cant wait to see his relationship flourish with his younger sibling, his part in playing older brother, having them both with me as my little team when we do little things like grocery shopping.. a second child, is not just that, but will add a different dynamic to the family. another personality to learn, another little person to teach (and watch how much of the teaching will come from your son!) Im sure it will be something you will NEVER regret !! Of course, there will be moments where your son may feel jealous (thats a whole other post ) but getting the older sibling involved should be just as much fun, especially when theyre older, like your son and can understand more. MY son might very well just knock the baby in the head with toys to say MY MOMMY!

Anna, something about that phrase just gave me butterflies... I have been thinking about #2 so much lately (not really sure why), but reading what you wrote about what's near to your future just really, really made me wish we were ready for #2 ourselves....
