? for BTDT Moms...Pacifer and BF(please answer)
Damien really loves to su ck and is using me as a pacifer. I know that it can cause nipple confusion if you use a pacifer too, but have any of you used one while BF? He is trying to put his thumb and or fingers in his mouth but has trouble keeping them in his mouth. Any help would be greatly appreciated
Edited because of su ck

I gave Annalise a pacifier and she had no nipple confusion. She uses the Gerber Gentle Flex since it works most like the b reast. Do you ever give him pumped milk in a bottle? If so, then the pacifier is no different than this. You can also offer your finger if you want, or help him to use his own.

In my breast feeding class that I took the instructor said pacifers work great for some babies, and not great for others so just try if you want to. I think if you wait a week or so you can try it and see what happens.

I gave Ryan a pacifier and he never had any confusion - it's hard to be a human pacifier all the time!!

Patrick was that way. It turned out that he wasn't get enough out of me. So I gave him breas+ & bottle. He never really took to a pacifier. Some babies just don't like them.

Stacey, I haven't given up yet and try very hard to give Lyla a pacifier, but she doesn't love it, spits it out, and STILL uses me as a pacifier! I don't see any harm in trying to get him to use it now, Lyla was bottle and breastfed from day one, and never had nipple confusion.

hi there- I was told that since I was bfeeding not to offer a pacifier until 6 weeks old. WE did and Julianne hated it. She found her thumb and fingers...and prefers them.Didn't offer her a bottle until 6-8 weeks either...
Once she went into daycare in June, I had to suppliment her with formula because I could not keep up with her...and we started her on the bottle about 1-1/2 weeks before that.
