What are the 'rules'? Can guests throw rose petals when you leave the church? Can your flower girls throw petals down the aisle? etc. We haven't done pre cana yet, they told us its done just a few months before so I don't know what any of their stips are. Any info is greatly appreciated!!

I am getting married at St. Josephs and met with Father Chris. He told us about the following rules:

You cannot throw anything inside or out. Your Flowergirl cannot throw flowers down the aisle (I might have mine hand out some to the women at the end of the pews) Your guests can only use bubbles or bells (we are going with bells)

No Aisle runners

Your Photographer cannot use any other light other than light from the church

They have rules for the the videogrpher, they cannot film from certain locations in the church...mainly they cannot go on the alter.

The limos will be told there cannot be any serving alcohol before you approach the church or from a certain distance from the church.

There was something about the music too. I don't think you can use any other music than what they provide...not sure, I might be wrong on this one, but there is something about the music..

That is all they told us, not sure if there are any more rules.

oh man they are strict huh! I was thinking I would have my FG's hold little BK's or those kissing ball things if they couldn't throw flowers....all good things to know, thanks so much!!

I am getting married there in 2 mos.
no, you cannot throw petals, confetti, or anything like that. We will prob use bubbles.
You cannot use an aisle runner.
You can bring in outside music, but it has to be approved by the music director Marie.

once you go meet with the priest, he will give you a folder and booklets which outlines the rules.

it also says FG's have to be at least 5 yrs old.. which is total bs. Mine are 5, 4, 2.

You basically cannot do anything there. just make sure you read everything, and call with any ?'s

(also, my FG's are carrying pomanders/kissing balls instead of petals) I just like that idea better than petals anyway. But you cant even throw petals outside either...

When we spoke to Father Chris, he said he recommends the FG and RB that age because they are too young to walk by themselves. My FG and RB are 3 year old twins and I will have them walk with their mother, my Matron of Honor.

Just be careful what rules you break. Father Chris told us they are in court right now with a couple becuase they told her she couldn't throw flowers and she did anyway. The grandmother slipped on the flowers and broke something.
