(If you don't feel comfortable, please FM) ....How much is too much to pay for photographer? And did/are you cutting corners, and if so, are you doing so with photo? Just curious....I know this price range varies a lot.

I think average pricing going into '09 for two photographers(and some including video) would be anywhere from 4k - 6k but honestly i think it all depends on what you want/whats important to you. DH & i agreed that if the photographer we wanted was on the higher end of prices, that we would cut elsewhere because photography is what you have left to remember. We shopped around a lot...and honestly i was so happy to find Thomaspaul. His pricing was average on the lower side, and we were amazed by his quality of work. We did see a few very VERY $$$ photographers, but we personally found we got the most for our money with both quality & quantity with Tom..like i said, you have to just meet vendors & see what grabs you. Personally photography was something that i didn't want to settle for...luckily we didn't have to break the bank because we found someone who was both affordable and talented. My advice would be to really just shop around...negotiate & see who you 'click' with. some girls find photographers who do amazing work for very little, and others go with photographers who cost a lot more. it's all just preference!

Everyone's situation is unique. You can find packages as low as $2k or as high as $10k, probably higher. That would definitely be too much for me. Our photography fell somewhere in the lower end of the spectrum because it's what we could afford. You have to base your spending decisions on what you can afford because all the girls on here are in different financial situations.

that is a sticky question
i think you should get a photographer that you are comfortable with, you really like their work AND you can afford to pay for
the prices range SO much - and so do the packages.....
i actually searched through the brides reviews to see peoples pro pics - from there i was able to get an idea of which photographers i liked best and then i checked out their websites....an 08 bride had also posted her e-pics and i loved them so i really started searching the net for that photographer (angelica glass)....DH really liked her stuff, i really liked her stuff and out of all the pictures of real brides we had seen on LIW angelica's were our favorite so that is how we kind of figured it out.....it was def MORE than we wanted to spend BUT i am glad we went with who we liked....

Photography is a very personal thing. I have seen a lot of phenomanal photographers but their prices were just out of this world. I 100% LOVED my photog and I would have paid him ANY amount of money. He was that great. My photog was under 4k.

You can get a good package btwn 4-6k. I paid 5k for mine.

It really varies by the bride and groom. It really depends on what you want. I wanted someone who takes beautiful pics. I wanted someone whose work I could look at and fall inlove. I wanted someone who is easy to work with and who will liusten to what I want. I didn't want albums so I am just getting all my pics loaded on a hi-res dvd that I will have exclusive rights to and I am only paying $975 for 5hrs and $125 each additional hour if needed.

Start meeting with photographers and looking over the various packages or services they offer, and you'll start seeing what feels right for you. We booked our photographer at the end of 2007, and his prices went up for 2008 and 2009 weddings. So it doesn't matter what we paid for him, but what does matter is that we are extremely happy with his customer service before during and after the wedding, and the quality of his work. We love almost all the photos and are having a hard time choosing which ones to put into an album.

I can't give an answer that will be too great because our photographer is a good friend of my cousin who is in our bridal party. We got a great rate of $1200.
