For Girls that have gone on a Cruise...

Is it better to go as a group, or just w/ your FH?? We are trying to plan a vacay for early 08, but are getting mixed reviews...thanks!

Even though we are going on one for our honeymoon, I would still recommend going with a group over going alone. You will have a great time regardless but going with a group just makes the entire trip so much more fun. you can do excursions together, go to shows together, etc etc. if youre looking for a great time with friends, this is it. if you're looking for a more romantic get away, then going alone is fine too.

I've always gone in a group. But although its alot of fun, there's always the feeling that everyone has to do the same thing and you can't leave anyone behind yada yada yada.... so it kinda got annoying at times with everyone wanting to do different things. But I love cruises and am hoping to book one for my HM. I'm sure a couple can have just as much fun!

We went on a cruise last year with two other couples and loved it.
We met up for breakfast in the morning, did our own thing during the day, and then met up again for dinner and the show and whatever else we wanted to do in the evening.

If you go alone, you will most likely meet other people, so you won't feel alone.

well fh and i went with about 8-10 other ppl but the funny thing is we spent most of the time together...We went with his family and we would see them at dinner and go say hi at breakfast but other than that FH and i were into different activities such as the casino lol and they all liked to go to shows and that sort of thing. So it was good bc we had a group of ppl to hang out with and spend some time with but we also had alot of time together

This is a tough question - I don't necessarily think one is better than the other. It just depends on what kind of vacation you are looking for. I think this applies across any vacation - if you go with just FH it's probably going to be a little more laid back, relaxing and romantic. If you go with a group it'll probably be a bit more of a party and you may even do more activities.

FH and I did a cruise a few years ago and we did several excursions, went out a bit, and had a great time. I even sang karaoke after a number of martinis. It was exactly what we were looking for. Next time we go, we may go with a group, but not because we had a bad time, just for the different experience. With friends there we'd probably run karaoke night, and get a lot more crazy.

I've done both.. The group thing and just FH & I. They both have their perks. Sometimes it's hard doing a cruise with lots of people bc everyone has a different idea of what they want to do with their time & you have to worry about pleasing everyone. ( I only say this bc we went on a cruise with a friend of ours and his girlfriend-she did NOTHING but complain the entire time. He almost threw her off the ship). On the other hand, group cruises are a lot of fun! You can take exursions together see shows, and hang out with other people at the bars. Also, you don't have to worry about sitting alone at dinner or being placed with strangers.

it also depends ALOT on you and FH too...i know everyone says if you want laid back and relaxed go just you two but maybe your personalities are different...FH and i have gone places alone and we go out drinking, gambling, dancing together, stay up late so depends on how you two are.

the pro about going with a group is this you dont have to do everything together. you can choose to do excursions alone if you want, or do things on the boat separately. but there is always the option of doing those things together, having breakfast or dinner together (dinners were a lot of fun!) etc. just bc you go in a group doesnt mean you have to do everything together. we go with family about every other year and while not everything is done together (there are young kids, older adults etc), we can still see each other fairly often.

We went once just the 2 of us and were seated at dinner with families that had little kids -- a screaming kid at dinner is not my idea of a good time.

We've done both. Although we love spending just time together, we found that going on a cruise with friends was the way to go. We went with another couple and it was nice for the girls to hang together sometimes, do things as a group sometimes, or just do couple things. If I cruise again, it will definitely be with a group of people.

I've done both. Personally I think it is better to go with a group. FH and I went on one together and while it was nice- its not a romantic atmosphere.

I've done both as well, Having people around, and eating dinner with 8 other people was really fun.
I am so happy we have those memories with his family.

Then we went alone, just us, for 12 nights.
I had an amazing time, it was nice being alone for all that time. We had a table for 2 every nite so we didnt eat with strangers. We slept late, and did what we wanted. There wasnt anyone to coordinate with, wich was nice.

I really cant reccomend either or, because both are special

some cruise lines have tables just for 2 and wont sit you with anybody else

i loved crown princess...there are kids on the ship but the good thing is they have their own floors so you dont really see them. Theres 4 pools and the kids have their own, and they have game rooms, mini golf and tons of other things.

I went on one with my ex-boyfriend and we had a great time. There were times though, that we were like 'I wish our friends were here to enjoy this too'. Especially at dinner when you have to sit with strangers. But even that isn't so bad, because you get to meet people.
I would def. want to go again, but this time go with a group.
We went on Royal Caribbean and it was excellent! Everything about it!!!!

we considered that too! we wanted everyone to join us but then when we suggested it, everyone else said we were crazy.
