For girls who had an engagement party

For girls who had an engagement party

I am getting married in 07 and an having an engagement party in a few weeks. I am noticing that more people responded 'no' to our engagement party than we expected. We will still have 80 people there but we invited around 120. Granted some of them were out of towners.
Did you find that the people that didn't come to the engagement party came to the wedding? I am trying to figure out approx how many people will show up at our wedding.
TIA!!

I didn't have and E-party so this is just an opinion but I don't think it's any indication of the number of people that will be at your wedding...I think that people don't view e-parties the same as weddings...I know personally I've missed e-paties for people who's weddings I wouldn't miss for the world (being OOT is a factor but so are general scheduling conflicts)...HTH

Typically the e-party is much smaller. Many people that did not show up to my shower and party have RSVP's yes to my wedding. I think they say that about 10-15% of people invited to a wedding won't attend.

That's what I was thinking. I am inviting around 200 to the wedding. I guess I am just taking it personally that people are not coming to the e-party and didn't give a reason why.

yeah it should be fine. they will probably come to hte wedding.

we invited 130 to our e party and had 90

then to the wedding we invited 274 and had 230 so it worked out!

I actually have quite a lot of people who could not make it to the Eparty who rsvp'd yes to the wedding. Sometimes people can't commit because they are from out of town or have other obligations. I would not be concerned because you have a lot of people coming.

Lots of people don't go to e-parties b/c they view it as having to spend $$ for a gift and know that the shower and wedding will be further opportunities to give a gift.

I had a traditional e-party - family only, for mine to meet his. Not one single friend was invited.

We had a small e-party, just immediate family, some cousins and bridal party. You don't have to invite all on your wedding list.

I had two e-parties... one on LI and one where DH is from in upstate, NY. They were both at people's homes. Most of the people who attended the e-party on LI attended the wedding. However, alot of people from upstate could not/ did not want to travel to NYC for the wedding, so alot of them attended the e-party and shower instead.

agreed. we had a 100% Yes rate for our e-party.

Our e party was only family. And I was actually surprised when people gave us gifts. We only had about 25-30 people.

This may sound b!tchy, but people are busy. They have their own plans and sometimes they don't involve going to an engagement party, the wedding is the important one, so they may figure that is what they would go to.

We only invited really close friends and family so it was a small fraction of your number and everyone came. I don't think it is any projection on who will come to the wedding though.
