When you first started to use it did it make your face very dry? I just started to use it and it's making my face very dry. Usally I have oily skin and for it to be very dry is so weird. Just wanted to know if this was normal and will it go away.

Re: for girls who use proactive
i used it years ago and yes, at first it made my skin dry. do you have the moisturizer? that usually helps.
for me though, i found that every once in a while it would make my skin dry and it would get really flakey so i stopped using it.
but i heard from a few people that it made their skin dry in the beginning, and then it didn't happen again.
good luck!!

If your face is that dry, you may be using too much of the face wash or lotion. Try cutting down your use to once a day instead of two and see if that helps.
I had to discontinue my use of proactive because even with one use a day, I broke out more and my face was just red and raw. Everyone reacts differently to the active ingredients. . . .

Try buying Aveeno Ultra Calming Lotion for your face. That should help with the redness.

Oh the first time it really dried my skin, badly infact...But you know what i would use, cetaphil, its a great moisturizer...youre supposed to use non-comedogenic(sp?) i cant even remember right now if its the right word lol but yeah cetaphil is great for your skin too...So i would just moisturize a couple times a day...I would even bring it out with me to just put it on.

Re: for girls who use proactive
I have used Proactiv and everything else in the world of acne meds and NOTHING WORKS, they all make my face soooo dry even when I use mosturizer and then my dry pimples peal off, I know that EWWWWW, and then that leaves scarring. I am thinking of getting laser surgury to get rid of everything, has anyone done this??

I had the same problem. I didn't like the moisturizer that they sell. It dried my skin so much it became irritated so I started using it once daily and it's not as effective as twice a day. Now that I'm not having the dryness I may start using it twice daily again. It was suggested to me to use cetaphil, oil free, gentle, and it does its job.

I have never used it....
I think I have bad skin, but everyone says I don't and my mom says I don't need to see a dermontologist for acne. I don't have acne I know that, but I always feel self consious about my face and I want it to clear up more- especially those clogged pores on my chin and nose.
So..haha how can you get Proactive without a Doctors prescription? do they sell it anywhere else beside off the TV as well haha...

Re: for girls who use proactive
You dont need a prescription for proactive. you can buy off tv, online or they do have a booth in the walt whitman mall. As i said, i use it once a day just on my nose and it really does clear up clogged pores.

its not the same as the shot...the shot makes it go away completely...my friend did it a long time ago and never broke out after...Im also keep this as an option in case i break out before the wedding bc it gets rid of it immediately...Its better and cheaper than laser thats why i suggested it...just close your eyes lol

i asked about laser surgery for the acne on my back - and it was $800 a session and you need at least 6 sessions. of course, face would be cheaper but that is still
